If this lovely charming hotel had not been paid for me, I could not have afforded to stay. AS it was they did and I was able to have the pleasure of staying at what must be one of the best hotels I have every stayed in. The rooms with there wood panels and huge floor to ceiling windows is... More

Stayed here last night for a charity sports dinner dance. We had to leave quite early, so didn't have breakfast. The room (no 26) was down stairs from reception then thought loads of corridors, the room was ok, but the small windows had frosted class and only one small top window opened, so the room was dark without the lights... Staying here gives a rare insight into the commercial wealth of the turn of the last century that is well worth a visit alone. Our room was enormous and quite tastefully decorated, the bed was large and comfy and the bathroom was very well appointed, the only negative here was the heating/ air conditioning. The control panel was ineffective due... More

Dear Guest Thank you for your review and overall pleased you enjoyed your stay and the magnificent surroundings. The bar service is not typical of normally Manchester’s Warmest Welcome. My sincere apologies. I hope to welcome you back soon. Kind Regards Richard Morrell General Manager More

What is the basic purpose of a hotel.......to sleep in? Well, if you cannot sleep in that hotel I would suggest it is not fit for purpose. On booking I specifically requested a higher room and stated I was here on business. I was put into a first floor room right next (and I mean relight next to) the railway... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and disappointed to hear about your stay. Clearly noise was an issue and although a city centre location you should not have to put up with such disturbance. Late evening any noise normally reduces and of course the trains stop after 11.00pm allowing guests to have a peaceful night sleep. Car parking is... More

Me and a friend stayed at the hotel last night as we arrive we were amazed by the decor of the hotel it's just out standing, the lady that checked us in was very nice and polite and smily. We got a little lost when looking for are room but two helpful young boys that worked there helped us to... More

Firstly, I will say the staff here are very nice and helpful; however, you just can't get past how dated and dark the rooms are. Add the maze of hallways, stairwells and creaking elevators and you begin to wonder if you'll ever find your way out. I've found, with very few exceptions, that the rooms receive a lot of traffic... I stayed on business for 2 nights and can honestly say I have never stayed in such a noisy hotel where the staff have little regard for their guests comfort. I was right next to the lift which can't be helped but as the building is so old the sound insulation is none existent but having managed to drift off... More

This hotel is in a gorgeous old heritage listed building. The reception area and bar/dining room really have a wow factor. I have stayed here a number of times and the rooms vary in size from generous to huge. All floors have high ceilings but floors 1 and 2 are my pick for size. The rooms are either street facing... Positives first; beautiful looking hotel, great service and good location. Negatives; For £200 I had a tiny room with single bed, mirror pointed down and could just about see feet, poor iron in my room compared to one I had to use in a colleagues room, phone didn't work, wifi only worked intermittently due to poor signal, I had to...
