I have lost count of how often I have stayed in this amazing buiilding.... It is so lovely! The stunning bar and restaurant, the splendid foyer, the twists and turns wiin the hoel leading to the hidden delights of this historic and beautifully restored masterpiece of Manchester's prsoperous past.... Extensive buffet breakfast. Friendly staff (the concierges are worthy of special... More

The Palace looks very grand and imposing from the outside, and this continues in the reception and bar areas which are, in fairness, quite nice in a victorian splendour way. However the room (once eventually found) was hugely disappointing. The decor is very dated - horrible green tiles on the walls and dusty faded old curtains. The bathroom had a... More

Although it was only a short overnight stay, I was very impressed with this hotel. The staff were efficient and friendly, the room was tidy, clean and had everything you would need for an overnight stay. Although, I must admit, booking a double room and getting a room with 2 double beds was a little surprising! Would recommend this hotel... More

You arrive to find a grand building and reception area only to be extremely dissappointed once you are shown to a room. The room was large and right above the railway tracks so expect little sleep. The bathroom was like a sauna and the internet connection although £12 was spent was not available to the following morning. The staff did... More

We (2 couples) stayed in the Palace Hotel on 5th May 2012, and booked the hotel based on its proximity to the theatre and it's excellent reviews. Check-in took over 20 minutes, our rooms weren't on the system so we were placed in rooms at the opposite end of the hotel! The room has stains on the carpet and bedding,... More

Great location in the city centre, very imposing facade, decent rooms, decent food, would have given in 5 star rating but for the fire alarms that kept going off the night we stayed. More

Paid £79 B & B so very good value, staff very receptive, room spacious and very clean, and breakfast good, Historic Hotel with amazing reception and decor in a prime location so no real grumbles, however give yoursalf plenty of time to check out as there was one person and this was therefore fairly slow. We stayed at the Palace for a conference. Very grand but disturbingly menacing! The building is 118 years old and you could tell! It is very likely a listed building so they have maintained many of the original architectural features. It was dark and very gothic - reminded me of the old insane asylum built by the Victorians. Didn't the... More

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review on our hotel, you are correct that the building is Grade II listed and so we have kept a lot of the original features of the building. The building was originally home to the Refuge Assurance many years ago. The architect was Alfred Waterhouse - who is regarded as one... More

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Its great value, and the building is unforgettable. It is vast and has lot of personality. The place is full of impressive staircases, the lobby is vast with a great vaulted ceiling and it looks incredible from the outside as well. It is a bit like staying in a castle. The rooms... More

Ok... A beautiful building without doubt but how can they sell rooms with no opening windows, no air conditioning and no vents. There really is no way to get air into the rooms I checked out within the hour More
