I got a last minute deal with the Palace Hotel and paid quite cheap for a double room, I diddnt expect much after reading the reviews from other people on here who just complained for various reasons. I myself dont have much to complain about, the room was huge, I paid £113 for a two night stay at the weekend,... More

Seems when staying at the palace you are either very lucky and get a nice new refurbed room or very unlucky and get such an awful one you have to cancel it and escape to the holiday inn express over the road (which is exacty what i did and would highly recommend!) The room was floor to ceiling old victorian... More

Stayed for a Weekend Theatre Trip with my daughter. From Arriving into the impressive reception area, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Yes the bedrooms could do with some TLC, but overall the room was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was great a good choice of hot breakfast and also continental. Had... More

This is a gorgeous building with interesting architecture. Our room was beautiful, large, clean and comfortable. The service in the bar was poor and we waited for over 45mins for some hummus and pitta which arrived as baba ganoush!?! They are attempting to offer table service but it seems to often get confused and very slow when the hotel was... More

On the whole, we really enjoyed our stay at the Palace. The service at reception was efficient and welcoming. We booked their winter deal and felt that, at just under £60 a night for weekend stay, it represented good value for money. Our room, and ensuite bathroom, were some of the largest rooms we'd encountered at any hotel. It seemed... More

We arrived at the hotel Sat afternoon for a masquerade ball to be held that evening. We had a warm welcome and sort of guided to our room - it was a bit like a maze but we eventually found it only to find the key wouldn't open the door so all the way back to reception where to be... More

If you want a taste of the magnificence of Manchester at the turn of the century, book in. The ceramic decoration is splendid and quite bizarre in places. The rooms on the other hand are not glorious, in fact some of them are very cold and noisy (trams, trains and road traffic, no duble glazing) so make detailed inquiries about... More

Stayed here for two nights on a business trip earlier this month, the hotel was booked by an agent and we were allocated rooms on the second floor. Based on my usual practice of checking tripadvisor beforehand I had some reservations about staying here after reading some of the reviews. My thoughts? Very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the stay! On... More

After a good welcome in reception, I trundled up to Rm 108 where there was a small double bed - there was a constant buzz from outside, but the room was clean and modern and the bathroom was fine BUT the room was very very dark even when the light bulbs warmed up!! It was also very cold! It is... More
