There's quite a few bad reviews of this hotel and at £33.35 a night I had "prepared my soul" for a really bad stay, we were on a one night booze cruise so I reckoned just get the cheap old banger of a hotel for a mega low rate and sleep through it all... To be honest if I'd paid... more

Having driven 5 hours from Kent to Manchester on Friday night, we approached reception to have the night receptionist's face drop at the sound of our name. He was obviously counting on us not turning up. Alas, we did - and they had no room for us. This, despite the fact that full payment was taken upon booking our room... more

From my experience this is a typical Thistle city centre hotel. Shabby, overpriced and to be avoided at all costs. The hotel reception looks impressive, well presented and good friendly staff. However this pleasant experience ends at the hotel reception. I was on floor 5 which had a lingering small of damp and even had thick dust on the lift... more

We had a great time. I travelled with my husband and nine year old daughter. The hotel is in a great location, just up the street (5 minute walk) from the main Piccadilly Train Station; just across the road (1 minute walk) from the Piccadilly Bus Stops... which go everywhere and if you aren't into public transport the taxis are... more

I travelled to Manchester on business and spent a night in Thistle hotel (thanks god it was only one night). The hotel is really shabby with dirty walls and carpets, smell of damp and chlorine and very old furniture. Thick layers of dust cover most surfaces and the curtains look like they have not been washed for years. The worst... more

Good hotel for a weekend in Manchester, the room was clean & comfortable, the bathroom was a good size, double bed fine. Located beside Piccadilly Gardens. 5 mins walk to Piccadilly train station. Handy for clubs, pubs, lots of eating premises about especially Chinatown. If you are in need of a bit of retail therapy then this place is 5... more

On a conference for two days - only real problem was lack of preparation for serving 100 people at once with tea and coffee. Room small, view onto side street. Could hear light being switched on in next room and the occupant coughing, so a noisy neighbour might be a problem. Clean enough, and curtains kept light out OK. Only... more
