We stayed at this hotel last week (November 12) and couldn't really fault much at all. We got a good deal om an Executive Room for £45, which is well worth paying the extra £10 for. The room itself is nicely decorated/furnished and clean throughout with plenty of tea/coffee making facilities & toiletries on hand. The external of the hotel... More

Stayed here with a girl friend on a girlie shopping trip and the hotel was in an excellent location. However it was rather dirty and shabby and could do with a make-over - the wardrobe door came off in my hands. The hotel is rather unwelcoming - it has lots of rather bossy notices and they don't seem to care... More

More than 40 min to check in. Carpets look like they from a CSI crime scene. Nothing works, doors broken, walls stained etc etc. if I had a sleeping bag I would have slept in it as this is the kind of place you don't want to touch, sit or sleep on anything. Web site pictures look amazing but don't... More

I had the misfortune to stay at this hotel on the evening of November 12th 2012. I stayed due to work along with a number of colleagues, the next morning it was the opinion of 12 people that this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The following description relates only to my room, but I can assure you... More

Just grubby. Dirty ashtray in the first room, got moved to another room that also had strong smoke odour. No windows in room, walls paper thin so you hear everything. I would never stay in this or another Britannia hotel.

First, the positive. The location is excellent for transport links:five minutes from Piccadilly and Victoria Stations, with the city centre location being great for concert venues and dining out. (Check out KRO for fairly authentic Danish food). But once you look beyond the ornate Reception area bars and staircase the rooms and the rest of the hotel are simply dreadful.... More

Stayed here for one night on business. Check-in staff couldn't find my pre-booking details. Took half an hour to get a room. The room I was given was the worst I've ever stayed in on any of my travels. Floors and surfaces were dirty. The room had no window and this was not a cheap room at £85. The air... More

This was a very convenient place to stay, right in the centre of Manchester so close to all of the places we wanted to visit. But if I had to describe it in one word it would be, grotty! I'm sure at one time this hotel was stunning but it has been left to rot. The bathroom was dirty and... More

We had 4 nights here when back in the old country catching up with family and friends......couldn't be in a better spot for bars, restaurants shopping and public transport, but really difficult for visitors with cars. Great building architecturally, interesting history and fabulous staircase in the lobby, nice bar and a couple of places to eat too. Lift very slow... More
