The rooms are dated and in need of a refurb. Don't think the windows had been cleaned in a long while!! No aircon in rooms but phoned down to reception and asked for a fan which was delivered to our room promptly. The staff were friendly and helpful, which is always a bonus. Next the breakfast........Sorry to say for me... More

The advantages: - 45 euros for two persons is not bad for a room - in the middle of a the city centre - paid parking available with 60 per cent discount - newspaper - bath/shower - clean towels - tea available in the room - friendly staff The disadvantages: - oldfashioned room - asked for a room with a... Stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend. Paid extra for an executive room rather than a standard which did not make any difference. Entire hotel smells of smoke despite being in a non-smoking room, all of my clothes needed washed. No ceiling lights in any rooms which as a girl is hard to try and put makeup on using... More

Great location but the rooms were unbelievably hot, no air on to speak of. Price a bit on the high side for what you get, some of the more modern hotels are similar cost and look better. Even still, it's not bad and the staff were willing to try address anything. Wouldn't be first choice to come back to but... More

It wasn't a particularly warm day in Manchester but I was met with a blast of hot air when I entered the room. It was insufferably warm and lacking in ventilation. Thus the windows were left open through the night, and ensuring a poor night of sleep. The great location on Portland Street was also a bane because it was... More

Hot. No window. No air con. Worst night in a hotel EVER. Shame, room is not bad for the price and location is great, but air should not be optional....... Varied experience at reception desk from indifferent and un-understandable, to kind and understandable (which was a polish girl). Will not contemplate again until extensive renovation takes place.

I usually stay here with my pals when coming to Manchester, it's cheap when booked fairly in advance and the rooms are clean and tidy. It's in a brilliant location for the city and for Piccadilly station. Staff are friendly and the hotel decor is nice. Only problem is the budget rooms have no windows, however we found last time... This hotel gives customers a city centre location just 2 minute walk from Piccadilly gardens. Prices from £90 However on group on was able to have dinner, bed and breakfast for £59 The staff are friendly and the hotel is spotless. The food is decent but I've had better choice and better quality. Warning - rooms can be hot therefore... More
