What a disgrace to our wonderful city this hotel is. My room was very dated (dirty walls, threadbare carpets, old CRT tv), dirty and smelt like an ashtray. I'm relatively well travelled and have stayed in budget hotels around the world inlcuding Africa, South America and Asia. Without exception this has to be the most unpleasant hotel I've ever stayed... More

Stayed for the weekend of 3rd feb. Very tired and dated accommodation. Terrible smell of damp in our room. droplets of water on surfaces from the damp. Food was not good. Central location is the only plus for this hotel. Would I stay again, nope More

We stayed in an executive room no 315 the room was mostly fine however we did find a blood stain on the duvet which was not in a cover but sandwiched between two flat sheets!! the room was otherwise clean and in good condition, but the bathroom... this was the first and last time I stayed at the Brittania. For the money I expected a lot more but quite frankly what I got was a very tired, shabby Victorian building badly in need of major investment. The reception was very impressive with the huge chandelier and open stairs but it is the rooms that tell the tale.... More

We stayed here on 31st January for one night. We had reserved two double Executive rooms for one night as we had booked to see the musical Oliver at the nearby Palace Theatre. On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to Superior Executive rooms. We found that there were two coach tour groups in the same hotel... More

Dont let the grand building and chandelier fool you, unfortunately had to stay here this saturday as the Crowne Plaza was fully booked, Have never experienced anything like it,. The carpets are threadbare and dirty, the room was small and disgusting with mis matched furniture and a radiator that couldnt be turned off, the noise from the nightclub kept us... More

Unfortunately I had to stay in this hotel as part of a business convention which was pre arranged by a third party. The room was grubby and dirty, furniture falling apart and the bathroom was one you would not want to take a bath in. Food at dinner was okay for the price, but not something you would go out...
