Arrived there on midnight. The taxi driver laughed. My whole body wanted to leave but I was so tiered, so I stayed. Bad idea. Huge bad rainwater damage, owner wanted to dry with the gas fireplace running all night. So I did not get much sleep as I was afraid that the place will burn down. Got up and everything... More

I have to say that this hotel exceeded expectations. The reviews on here are so horrible it definitely doesn't deserve them. It is a standard 'above a pub' hotel. Yes the carpet on the stairs is worn but for the price I think it is a bit picky to care too much. The manager was lovely. Helpful without being over... More

When i first arrived at the Hotel i was in total disbelief, stunned and speechless is an understatement,..the maid(surprised it has one) was very vacant,i wonder if she was just a figment of my imagination,i felt an haunted presence from this lady, who simply ignored me when i have her a friendly hello, the place is very damp, not suitable for human inhabitants, very depressive... Convenient for the Coronation Street tour which is the ONLY good thing I can say about this hovel. An incredible fire risk, narrow uneven and well worn stairs, Broken and ill fitting light fittings, rotten windows that don't stay open (we had to wedge ours open with a towel - which we were given which was awful) The bedding is... Awful place! Stinking, unsafe, dirty room! Only had to stay one night thankfully. Avoid if possible. I'm not fussy with where I stay but this was the worst! Door hanging with tape, pulled up the sheet on the bed to see stains from the night before. Towels dirty! Sockets were dangerously hanging off the wall. My friend who booked this... More

We stayed here for a night. After reading reviews averaging around 3 stars, we expected cheap and cheerful at best. What we got was horrific, and falsely advertised. The images are easily dated 10+ years ago (an ash tray is pictured on one of the bedside tables, suggesting they pre-date non-smoking laws - something we noticed too late). The outside... More

The Commercial Hotel is absolutely horrific. Do yourself a favour & PAY MORE TO STAY ELSEWHERE. I stayed in a single room for £28, thinking I'd bagged myself a bargain that "surely couldn't be any worse than some of the hostels I stayed in when I was younger". Oh yes it can, and it is. It's filthy, and I mean... More

Cheap and not so cheerful. But simple and clean. Definitely needs a makeover.. Wouldn't stay here on my honeymoon, but was great just for a quick visit to Manchester. Lovely and quiet and close to town. Loved the tea and coffee provided. We arrived before check in time, but the guy was kind enough to let us in earlier.

If you have even seen Ramsey's Hotel Hell then this place is a good comparison of what to expect! Literally the worse place I've had to stay. My room which was up several flights of stairs was very damp, dirty & smelt horrible. Doors, walls & fixtures were damaged & dangerous. This was the same in the public areas &... More

Avoid this hotel, i had the worst night i have ever had here. My bed had dead flies in when i pulled back the sheets, the drains smelt awful, TV didn't work properly, no clear wifi. But worst of all i felt so unsafe here; i was greeted by a rude man and other men drinking. There is no check-in... More
