Seriously, some of the reviews and ratings are too harsh. They'd be fair if the accommodation was expensive, but it's ridiculously cheap especially considering the location. If all you need is a comfy bed, good access to the center, warmth and like myself, are rather skint, this is the place to be! Moreover, the place isn't dirty as suggested by... More

Booked through booking.com Some of the reviews are very very harsh. It's a nice old hotel in the centre of manchester. It's cheap and you get what you pay for, it's not trying to be 4 star. Standard room, standard bathroom, clean and I think that's all you can ask for for the price. Would stay again 100%

OK, when I say met expectations, I will explain - basically, this place cost us 50 quid to stay. On a Friday night. Which in Manchester City centre, is pretty good. Thats probably the only redeeming feature. Bloke who showed us where the room was good enough. Then you go upstairs and see the horror unfold. Random holes in walls,... More

I second all the terrible reviews, sometimes people over exaggerate, but not in this case!! This is certainly one to avoid. The location is ideal for bars and restaurants in the area but still not worth putting yourself through the experience.

I booked this hotel for my wife & I as we were visiting coronation street . Apparently the hotel had featured in some episodes & I thought it would be nice . Unfortunately upon arrival it seems the episodes it was in must have been the tram crash . Mattresses on the roof , car with featured garden in it... More

If you like a friendly hotel with excellent customer where nothing is too much trouble, this is not the place for you. Cleanliness is not something that they worry too much about. Although there were three of us in the room only two of everything was provided. One of the towels was thinner than the tissues in my pocket. We... More

The only good thing about this place is the exit and the fresh air beyond. A group of friends called in looking for nothing much more than a decent pint in a convivial atmosphere. Sadly the ale was awful and the whole place stank like a flood damaged second hand carpet shop. The only thing it's worth is a swerve.... More

In these days of heightened visits by health inspectors and such like to B&B's, Hotels etc., it is a wonder that a place such as The Commercial Hotel slips through the net. I arrived at this hotel without doing any homework, which is very unlike me (note to self - ALWAYS do your homework!), at 11pm. I booked it purely... More
