My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon tour of the UK. We were surprised and delighted when we were upgraded to one of the nicest suites in the hotel! GORGEOUS!!! Also, the cookies (biscuits) brought up to our room with the welcome tray were a thoughtful and welcoming touch. Thank you!

Wonderful boutique hotel and would definitely stay again. The decor and ambience is excellent as are the staff. Set in the great canal street area. The rooms are stunning and each have their own individual twist

The Velvet Hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of Manchester. I was greeted by the very friendly night manager who took me to my wonderfully converted room, with many original features. There was only one minor issue, the wifi was very slow. However, I would whole heartly recommend this hotel.

Upgraded to a penthouse room 406! WOW! Lovely room. Escorted to the room with an offer to carry our luggage, complimentary biscuits, fruit and tea/coffee. Large double freestanding bath, low lighting, 2 tv's and plenty of seating. Staff are very helpful, polite and ensure your needs are met. Close to all amenities. Highly recommended.

What a find - yes I was slightly apprehensive when I was informed that I had just booked in the gay central area of Manchester but what a treat. The hotel rooms are stunning each with their individual twist. The service was second to none & you were really made to feel comfortable. Excellent location within 5mins walk of the... More

A wonderful little hotel which we found through Mr and Mrs Smith. And what a find. It is so very different from most hotels, with lofty industrial ceilings, beautiful bathrooms and very comfortable beds. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the basement restaurant has a delicious breakfast. The location is lively, particularly on a worm summer weekend, but there... More

Where to start. Another spontaneous trip (one of many) with our usual hotel of choice being the Malmaison. However, we have probably been there around 10 times this year already - see separate reviews for that - and fancied a change. We found a great deal on booking.com for a room for £83, hopped on a train and off we... More

A nice boutique hotel in the center of Manchester. Very friendly staff and helpful. The bed was perfect where I could just sleep for hours. Walking distance to all nice restaurants and sight seeing. Good restaurant down below.

At one end of Canal street in the Manchester 'gay village' Velvet is a converted building. They have exposed brickwork, wrought iron pillars and beams making Velvet a treat on the eyes as well as a wonderful place to stay. I've stayed in Manchester on many occasions but never before in Velvet and certainly will return. The rooms are eclectic... More
