If like me you stay in chain hotels all the time, it makes a refreshing change to stay somewhere that has a bit of character. The rooms are all different, I have stayed in several and they are all decorated very well. The bathroom is lovely and I like the rubber duck! Yes it can be noisy but take some... More

Myself and my husband have stay in this hotel twice. Th hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Being on Canal Street, I found it quite noisy during the night and it also sounded as though someone was walking on the roof. The breakfast was ok (there were some out of date yoghurts on the breakfast selection).... More

We stayed two nights and would stay again. The hotel is a few minutes from Piccadilly Station and very comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the decor in the rooms has more style than your average hotel.

I was very disappointed with this hotel after reading all the glowing reports on Tripadvisor. We asked for a quiet room and were given a third floor room at the back, we noticed the extractor fan noise but were told this would go off at 10pm. It didn't of course, we complained to desk staff but as they were fully... More

I really enjoyed my one night stay at Velvet. The reception staff were friendly, the rooms were opulently decorated, and the service was old-fashioned in the best possible sense. I haven't been shown up to my room anywhere for a long time - so that was very nice! After checking in, you're offered a hot drink, which they bring to... More

Velvet is well located for shopping, galleries, museums and night-life and the hotel provided an ideal base for exploring Manchester. The staff were polite and welcoming and those little touches like providing a welcome tray with fresh milk, lemon and lime slices, and a jar of cookies and shortbread made check-in an enjoyable experience. The room was clean and well... More

I hadn't seen my girlfriend for nearly two weeks due to my new job and thought I should treat her to a night away so obviously I was in need of something very special! The Velvet hotel offered this and a lot more! Being in the industry myself, I have a talent of spotting the little faults that most won't... More

Stayed a few months ago, really enjoyed it so thought we'd have a night out in manchester over the bank holiday and book in. Had a different room, but equally as good as last stay, rooms are really interesting. Huge gothic style super king size bed, exposed brick walls, massive gold framed mirror..about as far away from a standard chain... More

After a very long day of traveling and a late night check-in we were very pleased with our room. Very good location- in the heart of the Gay Village and minutes from the centre of town. We would greatly recommend this hotel... the staff were fantastic!

Stayed on a Sun & Mon night. Very close walk to train station and shopping area. Lots of restaurants in the area. Room was very trendy and cool looking. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom and they give you milk/tea/hot chocolate and cookies to welcome you. Continental breakfast was good and staff is mostly pleasant (one girl was not nice, but everyone...
