We were treated wonderfully by Peter and his wife and the bar staff. The room was clean and quiet and it was easy to rent bikes from them too ( their maps were very helpful). There were a few moments of noise coming from the owners' children but it wasnt a big deal and they were charming most of the... More

Having enjoyed staying at many country inns the Volunteer was a real disappointment. The welcome was friendly enough but the room was small, with hardly enough room to get between the two single beds. A double would have been more comfortable. There was no bedside light so I had to walk across to the door to switch the light out... More

Thank you for your comments. As stated on our web site rooms 4 and 5 can be noisy as they are situated above the courtyard. We are licensed until midnight...Licensing authorities please note....always good to get the facts right prior to passing comment More

This was our first point of entry on our Cotswold's' hiking holiday and we found the place to be very friendly and helpful. We were given the spacious suite on the main floor with a door to patio and garden.

Had a great stay at this Inn. I was very pleased that despite late planning on my part, Peter promptly replied back to me and indicated they had a room available for me and my daughters. I must add too that Peter was very quick to respond to e-mail. My budget would have liked a lower room rate but the... More

We were looking for a slightly more budget-friendly place to stay in the Cotswolds and were really glad we found the Volunteer Inn as it was exactly what we needed: nice, clean rooms, friendly service and great full English breakfast. My parents and sister stayed in the large ensuite family room which was really nice; my partner and I stayed... More

Stopped here the night before setting off on 100 mile walk to Bath. Room was small but adequate but directly over the pub kitchens and so we could hear the sound of people working in the kitchen and the drone of an industrial extractor fan until late at night. Also the smell from the kitchens seemed to be extracted into... More

Arrived at the Volunteer an hour earlier than check in, Dawn was so apologetic that our room wasn't ready. No problem we went for a bite to eat. We arrived back about an hour later and our room was ready. Dawn every so helpful showed us to our room and explained about breakfast etc. Room was a very good size... More

Stayed for four nights in this B&B above the volunteer inn. It's one of the cheaper in the village but offered a good sized room with good bed, TV, kettle etc. Despite being over the bar the room was pretty quite. The bathroom was shared with one other room and had a good powerful shower. An excellent cooked breakfast was... More

We planned to visit the Cotswolds over the Easter break to coincide with meeting up with relatives close by. Being Easter, we had left it too late to book up. Every time we tried to book somewhere, there was nothing available, so we set off for Chipping Campden under the proviso that if we didn't find anywhere to stay, that... More

The website warned about the possible excessive noise, however despite having been allocated the beergarden facing room, we have not found the noise disturbing. In fact I found it much quieter than our London flat. Since this is an inn, I found the room quite basic, but with everything needed for just an overnight stay. I was surprised to find... More
