I am very sorry Volunteer Inn but this was not a good experience at all. They say first impressions count, and I guess the writing was on the wall when I had to drag the barman away from watching the tennis to notify him that we had booked a room for the evening. The room was large and overlooked the... more

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Volunteer Inn in Chipping Camden. The room was large and minimally furnished, but worked out great. If you are looking for a place to tour The Cotswolds this would be a good base. It is attached to a pub, which worked out nicely and has a good Indian restaurant. The pub... more

Made to feel welcome by all the staff members, clean rooms and bathrooms which are serviced daily. Value for money, good selection of beers, great choice of breakfast, fantastic Indian restaurant attached which is not to be missed. we were a party of seven who all agreed that we would stay at the Volunteer Inn next year again, a definaite... more

Location: Right on High Street, and across from the Cotswold Way. Just a few blocks from shopping and the public library. I finally returned here after several years. Love the town and the hotel’s location. I hiked to Hidcote Manor Gardens just a few miles away. Service: Quite pleasant front desk staff, who even let me use what appeared to... more

Stayed with a group of friends and had a great day and night. Location is great, in the heart of the Cotswold. Had a fun evening in the Volunteer bar followed by a 1st class Indian dining experience in the Maharaja Restaurant which is part of the hotel/pub. One of the best curries I have ever had :-))). Not to... more

Having never been to the Cotswolds before (I must confess we didn't even know where it was until a friend suggested it for hubby's birthday break!), we really had no idea what to expect - so to arrive in Chipping Campden was like visiting another world where cars look totally out-of-place! We had forgotten to ask about parking - and... more

Up from London and stayed for 2 nights in April 2009. Great support from the staff from the outset with info on how to get to there and local transport/taxi sercices. Great atmosphere, well kept beer and the linked business with local Indian/Asian food company results in highly recommended food available in the pub's resturant and a welcome variation. Rooms... more

Accommodation in Chipping Campden is not generally cheap, which made this pub an even better find. Staying with another couple, we had booked into the two rooms with a shared bathroom. This saved a little more and was no problem. The bathroom was opposite the rooms, spacious, clean and with an excellent shower. (Just lots of food smells wafting up... more

Very simple, no-frills accommodations, but very clean and shower was hot/clean. Some of the rooms are over a popular pub, which means it's not quiet until after the pub closes (the noise at closing time wasn't too bad). But, coping with that means staying at the pub longer! Very pleasant and accommodating proprietor. A good place to stay if you're... more

We stayed one night at this very reasonsably priced inn attached to a pub. The room was very clean and had all the necessities. The managers were helpful and very pleasant, and the location was perfect to explore the Cotswolds. The big surprise was the delicious full breakfast that was included in the price of the room. The only downside... more
