I recently stayed here after going to a wedding at the town hall. The location is brilliant- very central and easy to find. The hotel itself is very charming with lots of character whilst still being modern and clean. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was a very generous size. Lots of storage in the room and all... More

Stayed here for one night last weekend with my husband. We put bags in our room and headed downstairs to find the bar. Lady was already serving someone but greeted us and told us she would be with us in a few moments. Fantastic! This is exactly the service we received from everyone. Makes a refreshing change. Having shopped and... More

Location: Great Value: Great Parking: Limited Food: Very nice Staff Excellent I needed somewhere to stay and wanted a central location. Room was small(ish) but well appointed, nicely furnished spotless and very comfortable. Flat screen TV and complimentary wifi (which lets face it are staples now). Loads of hot water in tasteful bathroom. The staff were very accommodating and nothing... More

Perfect place to spend a couple of days exploring lancaster. Breakfast fab and the dining menu good. Pizza was exceptional. Room was wee bit small but comfortable with everything you need. Staff very friendly and knowledgable.

Lovely bar and dining area. I booked here for my husband's birthday taking our daughter with us. I drive past this bar/restaurant every day and it always looks lovely with tempting advertising. Has a bit of an identity crisis we feel - it's really smart and has the potential to be a lot better. They need to invest in staff... More

Hi there, Thankyou for the feedback, always much appreciated. It is a great old building and we are currently in the process of really trying to push our food quality and service standards. My daughter is planning to study at Lancaster University so we have now visited the city twice to attend an open day and then, more recently, a prospective student day. Both times we have stayed in this delightful hotel. Clean, modern rooms, all amenities and a very good shower. Staff friendly and attentive and the food excellent. Daughter has now... More

Stayed for one night, lovely clean, modern and spacious bedroom (number 9). Large bathroom with bath and modern, super efficient power shower. Our room overlooked a main road and was directly above the bar, but noise wasn't really a problem, even though it was Saturday night. Very central location, five mins stroll to shops and bars. Breakfast was good and... More

Spent two nights in the hotel on an impulse to see Lancaster. Booked as a result of good reviews and was not disappointed. The staff were very attentive (e.g. offering fresh milk for the room's tea-making facilities) and knowledgable of the area. The room was good, beds very comfortable although the air condition unit had a mind of its own... More

Hi Peter, Thanks for your review and I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay with us. You aren't the first person to mention the taps and having just had a play with them myself I can confirm they are a little on the tricky side to work out! Style over substance but that's designers for you. I'm happy you were... More

We spent two nights at the Penny Street Bridge Hotel when visiting the University of Lancaster, which is a couple of miles out of town. The hotel is well placed for seeing city - a 15 minutes walk from the Castle. Rooms are reasonably spacious and nicely kitted out. Wi-fi works well. TV was stuck about 10 feet up near... More
