Just returned from a weekend visiting family in Lancaster. Once again we cannot fault our stay at the Penny Street Bridge. The service and friendless off staff was excellent as usual. Evening food and breakfast was again plentiful and value for money. We can’t understand why this hotel is not rated number one or two in Lancaster. Its character only,... More

We are staying at the Penny Street bridge hotel and it's wonderful. I was a bit worried about coming after reading some reviews about it being dirty but these people must go around with a cotton bud searching for dust!. We stayed in room 1 and it's lovely, yes you can hear others moving about but it's a old building,... More

Lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was well equipped and very clean. Only downside was that walls were quite thin and when the family next door got up at 7am it woke us up to. However that didn't detract from a lovely stay and visit to Lancaster.

We stayed for one night at the Penny Street Bridge in June, and had a pleasant stay overall. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant were all helpful and friendly. I would echo some of the other comments that the decor in places could do with refreshing, but this was mainly in the hallways - I didn't see any... More

We stayed at the Penny Street Bridge on 30th May for 2 nights the approach to the room showed the stairs needed hoovering and laundry every where. When we were shown our room No 1 there was thick dust on the side cabinets and it just felt dirty we went down to reception and the young man went with my... More

We stayed here on a Saturday night. Location is right in the centre of Lancaster, but the sound insulation is so good that we slept really well. Rooms are quite cosy, but enough space for 2 for a weekend. Food in the bar is generously sized and tasty. Breakfast buffet was limited, but the freshly cooked hot food was very... More

My boyfriend and I had Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago and it was delicious. We were originally going to go somewhere cheaper but the other place was too busy so we came to Penny Street Bridge instead. It was definitely worth paying a bit extra as the quality of the food was great. I would definitely eat here... More

We stayed at the Penny Street Bridge on a Saturday night. After checking in we climbed the stairs to the second floor to find laundry all over the corridor and staff sat on the floor reading magazines, not a great welcome to start off with, our room was not very clean and was in need of some money spending on... Hi David, Thanks for the feedback, I'm sorry your stay wasn't up to your, or indeed our, expectations. Regarding the laundry I would guess you requested an early check-in as the laundry would only be present on the landings until housekeeping had finished? If you could email me the date of our stay on manager@pennystreetbrdige.co.uk I would be very interested... More

Yes, I agree that there are areas of the hotel that could do with redecoration but we had a lovely room and a discount because we were travelling on the steam train. I am awarding 4 stars because the staff were so friendly and helpful, even topping up our parking meter for us while we were on the train (we... More

Hi Patricia, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and I hope you had a great journey on The Fellsman - we're getting some work done on a few of the older areas of the hotel so hopefully that should spruce the place up nicely! Unfortunately the Queen forgot to pop in and see us but I'm... More

Visiting Lancaster with a friend and wanted a central location. Noticed the Hotel was featured in Alistair Sawday review so had high expectations. Beautiful building, fabulous bar and restaurant decor. Rooms were functional if a little tired, some bathroom fittings were broken. The stairs were shabby and again tired and in need of a freshen up. Had a prawn hanging... More

Hi Susie, Our great city centre location does unfortunately have one downside - the parking! We have a limited number of spaces available to pre-book so if you stay with us again give us a call and we'll get you a space booked. We agree that our fantastic old building is in need of a little 'tlc' in some areas... More
