We just spent a night at this hotel and overall were quite satisfied. To begin with the location of being a couple of minute walk from the Lancaster train station, across the street from Lancaster castle and in the heart of the city center were all very desirable. The facade and exterior of the hotel are quite pretty and the... More

For the price we paid, this was very good value: £56 double room with a good breakfast. Well situated almost in the grounds of Lancaster castle. The receptionist was charming and helpful. Room was fine, had everything we needed. The lift was a bit creaky and the decor has seen better days but apparently the hotel is having a complete... More

I stayed here in November 2013 and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest I booked it for the price and location, as these were more important to me than flash decor. I wasn't planning on spending an awful lot of time in the room itself. Every area, including my room, was clean and tidy. Yes, it could perhaps use a... More

This was the third time I have stayed at the Royal Kings Arms in Lancaster. Previously I have quite liked being here, even though it's far from 'the tops'. It is convenient, reasonably inexpensive (though not necesarily good value) and the beds are comfortable. I don't expect 'Park Lane' service but I do expect better than this. A few small... More

I am very sorry to hear that you found your dining experience a disappointment. Since we re launched our evening meals in January they have proven to be extremely popular and therefore we do have occasions whereby certain courses do run out due to teh popularity of the dish. I will certainly speak with the team in the restaurant to... More

After having an enjoyable 1st stay with you a few weeks ago, we thought we would stay again. We requested the same or similar room as our previous stay on the great review we left. We arrived at the hotel at 10am to a very nice receptionist who made us feel welcome. We aere told our room was ready, which... More

We stayed here overnignt with friends on our way south. Whilst the hotel is a bit dated and in need of a bit of TLC it is excellent value for money. We took advantage of an offer £53 per couple including breakfast. The hotel is very central and has a car park at the rear.

Stayed here for one night. Hotel is very central to train station, shopping centre, pubs/restaurants, Lancaster Museum and Castle. Hotel has its own free car park though it is quite small. Reception staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is a very old historic building and the decor inside reflects this. Some areas of the hotel are in... More

Put simply, this hotel is a kip. The decor is very aged, the carpets are worn, the lift is unreliable. The room was poorly furnished. The bed was awful The wallpaper was lifting and the plaster was cracked. I did have the bonus of somebody else's hair stuck to the tiles over the bath. Food at breakfast was average at... More

We can recommend this hotel for the nice historic building, the excellent prices and also the central location (the hotel has views of the castle and is a few mins form the train station). We were told that the hotel is due for refurbishment soon and after this it should be much better. We'll definitely stay again as it makes... More
