My Wife and I recently stayed for 2 nights. The Gateway is spotlessly clean. Our room was on the ground floor with comfortable chairs and a walk in shower, great for my wife who has recently had a knee replacement. The breakfast was delicious and well served. Angela, the owner couldn't be more helpful and we had a lovely, restful two... More

This is a wonderful and welcome review, I am really, very pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Gateway at Hest Bank. In particular the ground floor room as this hasn't been completed very long but is proving very popular with guests with mobility issues requiring easy shower access and a good sized sitting area. Thanks again and I hope... More

Stopped here for one night en-route from London to the Lake District. Angela welcomed us warmly into her home and as it was mid-evening and the local pub had stopped serving food, invited us to use the dining room for a takeaway. Our large clean room had everything we needed. The decor was simple and the bathroom in particular was... More

Thank you for your review of The Gateway, lots of positives but sadly a couple of points you were obviously unhappy about. Firstly the light under the bedroom door - A lamp has to be left on in the hall overnight for safety reasons. There is a draft excluder in all the bedrooms on the first floor specifically to prevent... More

The Gateway was our first stop on a week's tour of the North of England. We are a family of 4 adults and we opted to share a room due to expense. This was fine for one night and our "children" had proper adult sized single beds. What made the difference was the choice of tea/coffee/fruit teas/hot chocolate and also... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the Gateway on our way back south from a trip to Scotland and were very impressed. Angela is a lovely, friendly, welcoming host and her home is immaculate. Our room was large and spotlessly clean, lovely decor and nice touches, such as bottled water and wee chocolates left for us every day! Good Shower!!... More

We wrere transferred to this property due to a "burst pipe" at another hotel and as it turned out it happened to be a good move judging by the reviews at the other place which shall remain nameless!! This b&b was just perfect with lots of nice little touches like bottled water in the room. The room was very comfortable... More

I had an overnight stay en route southwards from Scotland. (I advise travellers to get directions for parking before arrival, as this is round the back.) Angela was friendly and helpful, and the room attractively furnished with very comfortable bed. I was pleased to be able to get on the beach quickly for a walk, and the sunset sky was... More

Very comfortable and welcoming with a good breakfast so served the purpose for our one night stop enroute to Scotland. Our only comment would be that having booked on the internet it gave the impression of being in or nearer Lancaster.Being on main road deterred opening window on a warm night. Overall very good.

Thankyou for your review. I'm happy you were pleased with The Gateway, that you felt welcome and that your breakfast was good too. Just to mention a couple of your concerns, one was that you had the impression we were situated nearer the city centre of Lancaster. To reach the centre is only 10 minutes by car and the map... More

Was made very welcome by Angela and Bubbles (a fussy but non bouncy Cocker Spaniel) before being shown to a beautiful and comfortable room. Very relaxed atmosphere and great location close to the sea front; am looking forward to coming back again!

The previous good reports seen on trip advisor were certainly reflected in our stay. We couldn't have asked for more. The owner, Angela, is very friendly and welcoming and this atmosphere is throughout . We had a very spacious seaview room, with a lovely hospitality tray, inc chocolates on our towel bale and sweeties and biscuits. The bed was very... More

We stayed here at the beginning of last week and enjoyed some welcome fine, though cold weather - the sun actually shone for two days on the trot. The Gateway is faultless: we loved everything about it and anyone would be hard-pressed to think of anything needing improvement. Angela is a relaxed and welcoming host and the dog, Bubbles, is...
