This place lives up the the reviews and we were pleased with our choice. We stayed one night after I had done a nearby (wet & muddy!) race, the staff/(owner?) we met when we arrived was lovely and gave us the first room that had been prepared despite us being an hour ahead of check-in time (we hadn't asked especially,... A meal for two in a near empty bar on a Monday night. Have to say that the beer, Robinsons Dizzy Blonde this time. was first rate with plenty of others to choose from. A controlled menu with good fresh ingredients, excellent meats and very good, personal service. My only quibble is that the portion size left a little to... More

We stayed there as were were going on the steam train trip the following day. Communication before our stay was efficient and timely. We contacted them prior to our stay and arranged for a packed lunch for our trip and on arrival we were asked if we'd like a taxi booking to the station. We were leaving before breakfast but... Where do I start ? We arrived early on 2nd June, and from the moment we arrived we have never felt such a warm welcome, Duncan accommodated us with such a cheery smile, and couldn't do enough for us, he got the room ready in record time. The lady who did the rooms, sorry we didn't get your name was such... More

Good: Brilliant service, free parking, fantastic breakfast, comfy beds. Bad: Small rooms...and that's it I don't understand why anyone would want to stay in a big corporate hotel on the outskirts of town when this place is such good value for money. I would absolutely stay here again.

Just spent two nights at the Wagon and Horses and was not disappointed. The accommodation is comfortable and spotlessly clean, a warm friendly welcome and great food made my stay all the better. The wagon and Horses is in a great position and close to both the railway station, bus station and town centre and if course The Castle! Cannot... More

When I told my wife we were staying in a pub, here immediate reaction was " We're staying where!?" However the superb Wagon & Horses allayed all her fears. Bedroom was more than hotel standard, with a shower that puts our power shower at home to shame. A Wagon & Horses breakfast sets you up for the whole day. Everything... More

We've just returned from a one night stay at The Wagon & Horses. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel so welcome by the friendly staff. We had a drink in the small but lovely beer garden at the back before being shown to our room. The rooms are fairly small but ample enough and everything was... More

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday and we were very impressed by the friendly staff. The room was nicely fitted out and made good use of the small space. There are 6 rooms in all and we had a double overlooking the river Lune. The breakfast was great, and every effort was made to please. The pub was... More
