The Ashton totally lives up to its reviews. As well appointed as any boutique hotel, very attractive rooms, great smellies, good selection on tea tray plus good biscuits and sweets. Comfortable bed, a super host in James who makes a very mean breakfast. We were welcomed with Pimms and a homemade scone and strawberries. The star is Barney the dog... More

Stayed here for a night and it was lovely, James was a good host, tea coffee and cake all provided free of charge (homemade too!) we stayed in a classic room which was fine and well presented but I expect if you pay more and stay in one of the better rooms you get the wow factor which we didn't... The Ashton is a wonderful find for us. The location is just outside Lancaster Centre so everything is readily assessible but is so peaceful and tranquil. Our room at the top of the house was wonderful and had everything we wanted. James was the perfect host and we felt really welcome. The breakfast is to die for with so much... More

This hotel in luxury personified, the decor is beautiful, every aspect of this hotel is top notch. James welcomed us on our arrival and very quickly provided us with tea, coffee and Victoria Sandwich with fresh cream and berries (definitely not Weight Watchers!!!) but delicious. He recommended and arranged a restaurant for our evening meal and the following morning we were... More

I have 2 really simple benchmarks for accommodation while I'm away with work. Is the decor better than my home, and is the orange juice as good as M&S freshly squeezed Valencia. With the exception of Rudding Park in Harrogate, Hotel Du Vin and now the Ashton, all have failed. This place is very very good.

I can only confirm that all the great things said about the Ashton are true. The room, we were upgraded to the room with the double shower, spotless, great decor, excellent wifi, nice bath products, comfortable bed, warm welcome, helpful local knowledge. Extensive choice for breakfast hot and cold, well cooked and tasty.

I think it has probably all been said about this wonderful gem and the marvellous host James, and yes it really is as perfect as everyone has described. But if I could just add a slightly different angle which illustrates beautifully the pride the the hosts take, and in James' personality. Our purpose in staying was to let my daughter... More

Lovely B & B with a great host. My husband and I stayed for one night we received a great welcome, pimms and cream scones in the sunshine! What a great start. Our room was in the attic which was really cosy with yet again great finishing touches I.e. A decanter of port, sweets and home made biscuits. James really... More

Unfortunately tripadvisor ratings only go up to five. My new Fiancee and I stayed in The Ashton for 2 luxurious nights in June. Everything about the stay was perfect. Upon arrival the house is gorgeous and immaculately presented, with every little detail thought of. A glass of wine and freshly baked cake later (which was presented daily, free of charge)... More

We have just spent the night here and it was amazing. The house is stunning and the location is beautiful. James is an amazing host, as soon as we arrived he took our bags and made us feel right at home with tea, coffee and cake. The rooms are sparkling clean and wonderfully decorated. The breakfast was beautiful made with... More
