We attended the boatyard last Friday and stayed over. The rooms were fabulous, the bathroom was so good I didn't want to leave the shower! Having spent a warm sunny day on a barge we sat outside overlooking the canal and despite the pub being extremely busy we found the standard of service to be excellent, the food fab, particularly... I have visited this establishment on numerous occassions over the recent weeks and have been extremely impressed with both the venue and the staff. I have read some recent reviews and they seem a bit wide of the mark!!! With regards one of the recent reviews I can completely contradict the writer....as I was sat very near to them and... More

We stayed here for one night. The rooms are absolutely fantastic and more than worth the £75 we paid for bed & breakfast. The bathroom is really nice especially the shower. The weather was scorching during our stay, the surrounding areas and the location of the pub were perfect. The staff were really busy as the pub was packed but they... More

I absolutely love the food here, I've been going for years and even after the place keeps swapping hands the food is still fresh and tasty. The only thing that has gone downhill is the service - ordering drinks at the bar I was greeted with a sullen teenage face, who looked like he did not want to be there... More

Hello Cassie and thank you for your comments. As you can imagine, I’m very sorry you feel you had a bad experience. You quite rightly note that The Boatyard has undergone some management changes. We are a new team so we’re still recruiting and the staff are still being trained. I’ll admit we were caught a little short by the... More

Only went in for some food and wal ked out before ordering any, whilst ordering drinks the staff were shouted at in front of us by whom we guessed was the manger. We then went to sit down on a table. We was then approched by the manger who was extremely rude and spoke to us as we were naughty... More

Dear Mophead (I'm using your username here). Thank you for your comments. I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience on your recent visit to The Boatyard. I remember speaking to you and engaging in some of the dialogue you describe. I don’t remember being rude, however, as this would clearly be unacceptable so I’m sorry you left feeling... More

Good, private, motel-type rooms and an excellent restaurant serving good food next door. Location beside the canal and close to nature with some decent walking in the vicinity especially down by the River Darwen was just right for me. Handy for the motorway, but far enough away from it to avoid the traffic noise.

We stayed at The Boatyard due to my friends birthday celebrations. We felt as though we were really looked after. Check in was easy from the bar and we were taken to our room. The room was a good size with a massive bed and lovely bathroom. The rooms look as though they are newly decorated with new furnishings. The... More

We have just returned from spending a night here. Loved the little rooms which are separate from the pub/restaurant so no noise here. The room was clean and modern but I loved the bathroom. A separate bath and rainforest shower which I did not want to leave. I have no complaints about staying here and would love to return in... More

Try the starter platers! They're really nice. Service is always of a high standard. Food is always great. There's a nice coffee shop bit you can have a warm drink before going into the restaurant and having a meal.
