Just returned from a stay at this olde worlde inn. Lovely charming pub the staff were very pleasant and helpful. A special mention for Ryan, who as the face of old English inns was a consummate professional. Service was excellent. The food is good "pub grub", however the breakfasts are excellent!! Being somewhat aficionados of Olde English Inns, having stayed... More

We also take advantage of offers in the Daily Mail and this is one of several Old English Inns that we have visited. The Bell has a good location and the rooms are ok bearing in mind the age of the property. Some strange plumbing noises. A pleasant bar and restaurant and the food was very good. The staff were... This hotel is full of character, but a little dated. The car park is a bit small for the size of the Hotel , but does not charge for Hotel guests . Our room was directly opposite the Abbey and was comfortable with all the usual amenities including a decent tv , tea and coffee making facilities and a good... More

Just returned from a long weekend spent at this beautiful old inn. With great views of the historic abbey opposite and located a pleasant 5 minute walk from town this is a great place to stay. Superb 3 course meal in the restaurant on Valentine's Day night and friendly helpful staff. If only they hadn't run out of Sunday roasts... More

We had the offer from the Daily Mail, which was £14.95 per person per night. We always use Old English Inns when the offer comes around. The Bell is in a good position opposite the abbey, but I agree with another reviewer that the rooms in the main hotel are easier to get to. We had one room in hotel... More

I am a regular Old English Inns customer so I know the form - charming, characterful common areas and bars but with slightly tired bedrooms. Good breakfasts but formulaic evening meals. You know what you're getting for the price and it is a contract you are prepared to make for a good location. The Bell, however comes bottom of the... More

Dear raycarew, Thank you for your review. . I can assure you that all the 'housekeeping' points that you have mentioned were swiftly addressed. I am very sorry to read that we did not met your expectations during this visit and hope that this does not deter you from using Old English Inns again in the future. Kind regards, Emma... More

This is a very good place to stay. Wonderful location, full of character. I actually love a place that is a little dated. Our room was very comfortable and included the proper amenities, though the bathroom seemed like it might fall through the floor in sections. That's part of the character. Free Wifi. We had a wonderful dinner. Always on... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of January. The location is excellent opposite the Abbey and the building is very old but we were in a modern extension (room 27) between the car park and outside drinking/smoking area. The car park is on the small side and a large number of the parking bays are private spaces... More

Nice clean, warm room. Shower didn't work so had to have bath instead. Full English looked great on menu but what I was served up was sliced brown toast instead of "thick cut wholemeal". The grilled flat mushroom was all of 4cm across and dry and my "eggs" were one egg. Good location and good sized rooms. My colleague had... More
