Read reviews and this seemed just the job for a one night stay. I knew not to expect the Ritz. It was an updated fancy place . On reaching The Abbey Hotel and seeing the front of the hotel , my heart sank!! It didn't look good . What had I booked I thought. Drove to rear and I felt... More

The hotel is very conviently located at the top of town with an ample car parking spaces. Check in was painless and speedy, I was well informed of facilities in the hotel and area. Room 2 is beside the main road, but luckily I am a heavy sleeper so no probs. Bathroom and bedroom were very clean. The hotel is... More

The location of this hotel is it's selling point. It is almost opposite the Abbey. There is private parking in the back and it is easy to find once you are in Tewkesbury. The hotel is a little tired in decor and there are no thrills, it is very basic. Room we stayed in was very big. Breakfast was OK... More

Friendly service. Clean and tidy. Good breakfast. Good parking. Unfortunately, I had a problem with a noisy disturbed person in the next room. The owner was also woken and called out at 2:30 am by the person's companion, but I did lose sleep. He offered to waive the B&B charge (£30) but I said I was happy to pay as... More

We stayed one night and it was very good value. A quiet room, a good night's sleep and a nice breakfast in the morning at a very reasonable price. And good WiFi as well. The car could be parked in the private car park and left for the weekend. The Italian restaurant in the ground floor is excellent as well.

Came back to Tewkesbury for our 25th Wedding Anniversary were we met. Room was warm and comfortable with 5ft bed and smart TV. Room was clean, en-suite facilities were good. Uneven floorboards as expected with an old building but added to the overall quirkiness. Friendly owner and staff and good breakfast. Traffic noise in front bedrooms early morning but good... More

Read the reviews from some on here and you would be forgiven for thinking that they may have a point having paid over £150 a night, breakfast not included. Oh hang on, it was £50 for the pair of us in a warm, spotlessly clean room and with a lovely breakfast. And free WiFi and parking too. Yes the Abbey... More

Stayed at the Abbey for my Birthday, as I wanted a night out in Tewkesbury. The one nights stay with breakfast was less than I could pay for taxis if I went out in nearby Cheltenham or Gloucester. The Abbey is a old fashioned Hotel/B&B for sure, but we loved our room. It was 100% clean and fresh, with a... More

This is a nice old hotel. Handy for motorway. Don't wake the owner after 10pm- he was very grumpy! I actually found it hard to sleep after he shouted at me. He did apologise the next day. There appears to be renovation in progress as there were random louvered doors standing in our room. The church bells were rather nice... More

All bad things come in threes and hopefully this is the third and last. Two facts wrong in this review it was 11 pm not 10 pm and I did not shout. I booked the family in at 10 pm and was woken near 11 pm by the lady who asked whether, instead of occupying 2 rooms, would it be... More

I picked this hotel as an ideal base from which to explore Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, and it turned out to be a good choice! The location really is great, directly opposite the beautiful row of old buildings which incorporate the John Moore Museum (which was on our itinerary) and the Abbey just beyond that row. Our welcome was warm,... More

Thank you for your review. The building and walls are substantial (constructed 350 years ago!) but we made the mistake of laying wood laminate flooring in some areas on the second floor which has had a disproportionate effect on noise. The laminate is being taken out, floorboards taken up and replaced and carpet fitted. This should solve the problem. Similarly... More
