We stayed at the Royal Hop Pole this Saturday, this was our first stay at a Wetherspoons and we were delighted at what we found. The pub is a historic hotel with all the quirks which you would expect of a building this age. What I was not expecting was to be invited to view a beautifully restored medieval banqueting... More

I stayed at this Wetherspoon's hotel for a family occasion in January. I have never been to a nicer Wetherspoons pub and hotel. It is really good. Surprisingly large but cosy. Great food, service and the hotel room was creaky in a cutely sweet way. It dates back to the 15th century. The stair cases are crooked in parts, and... More

The royal hop pole was our first foray into wetherspoons hotels and it definitely won't be our last! A group of us had a lovely weekend in this historic hotel last week and were impressed with our rooms, the food and service we received. Plus its location and a great medieval gallery upstairs! Our rooms were clean and spacious -... More

I haven't stayed at this Hotel, However I eat there reasonably regularly, I first went there with a friend for a meal, and decided to try the steaks on offer, It was exceptional ! I felt sure it was probably a " lucky" one off....not so I have now been there several times, and each time the food is up... More

We stayed here as a family, and stayed in room 107. This room completely took us by surprise as we were not expecting medieval wall mural along the whole wall. I did not expect this, especially from a Wetherspoons pub. The only draw back is that I am 6ft 5 and kept hitting my head on the roof and beams... More

Dear Mike B, Thank you for your review. I am pleased to know that we took you by surprise with one of our historic rooms! We are really lucky to have such a historic building, but totally agree if you are tall then a room on the Georgian side of the hotel is probably more suitable, as there are a... More

Really enjoyed my couple of days here, excellent central location for walks along the river and visiting the abbey and antique shops, good restaurant, helpful staff and great value for money. Only criticism would be the weak filter coffee but the espresso was excellent.

We selected this hotel because of its location and price. We were impressed from the moment we arrived during mid afternoon. It was clearly busy, yet the staff found time to welcome us. The building is a treat, old fashioned yet providing comfortable, clean and well equipped accommodation. The afternoon meal was excellent, as was the breakfast next morning. The... More

Dear Guest, I am very sorry to read that you were disappointed with the service you received whilst at The Royal Hop Pole. We did have a twin room booked for you that evening, however there was no request for a ground floor room, and a 1st floor room had been allocated. Unfortunately, we only have 1 ground floor room,... We stayed at the Royal Hop Pole in October 2014 for a visit to Tewkesbury Abbey. The hotel and the restaurant are quite good and convenient. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel along the street as it is a busy place with lots of shops. The parking for the hotel is down the nearest street at the river... More
