We stayed here as a family, and stayed in room 107. This room completely took us by surprise as we were not expecting medieval wall mural along the whole wall. I did not expect this, especially from a Wetherspoons pub. The only draw back is that I am 6ft 5 and kept hitting my head on the roof and beams... More

Dear Mike B, Thank you for your review. I am pleased to know that we took you by surprise with one of our historic rooms! We are really lucky to have such a historic building, but totally agree if you are tall then a room on the Georgian side of the hotel is probably more suitable, as there are a... More

Really enjoyed my couple of days here, excellent central location for walks along the river and visiting the abbey and antique shops, good restaurant, helpful staff and great value for money. Only criticism would be the weak filter coffee but the espresso was excellent.

We selected this hotel because of its location and price. We were impressed from the moment we arrived during mid afternoon. It was clearly busy, yet the staff found time to welcome us. The building is a treat, old fashioned yet providing comfortable, clean and well equipped accommodation. The afternoon meal was excellent, as was the breakfast next morning. The... More

My mother and I were booked into the only disabled room on the ground floor on Saturday 15th Novemeber. We were attending an 80th birthday party of my Aunt at the golf club down the road, along with a large number of family members, it had been booked for months. We were so excited to be staying here, looked lovely.... More

Dear Guest, I am very sorry to read that you were disappointed with the service you received whilst at The Royal Hop Pole. We did have a twin room booked for you that evening, however there was no request for a ground floor room, and a 1st floor room had been allocated. Unfortunately, we only have 1 ground floor room,... We stayed at the Royal Hop Pole in October 2014 for a visit to Tewkesbury Abbey. The hotel and the restaurant are quite good and convenient. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel along the street as it is a busy place with lots of shops. The parking for the hotel is down the nearest street at the river... More

Lovely hotel, was in a great location, above a pub and next to a kebab shop, was very comfy, the room was massive but the bed was a bit small, bathroom was nice, if also a bit small, the complementary biscuits where the nicest i have had, not just the nicest complementary biscuits but the nicest biscuits period.

Thank you for your review, it is nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We agree, some of beds in some of the bigger rooms could be replaced with King sized beds. It is something we are working hard to implement, so hopefully this will be in place shortly. We also agree the biscuits are very good!... More

Having stayed at quite a few J.D. Wetherspoons hotels, we recently stayed again for the 4th time. We have used it as a stop-over en route from Sheffield to the West Country and never been disappointed. Parts of the building are mediaeval, and brilliantly restored. As with all 'Spoonie's' meals they are from a familiar menu, but the quality, presentation... More

What a pleasant experience! This hotel is centrally located in Tewksbury. Decent rooms which are inexpensive, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The historic building is a combination of both Georgian and Tudor and it is well wiorth looking around, with many nooks and crannies containing interesting features. The recently uncovered great hall is of special interest. The bar is typically... More
