Spacious room with good facilities and comfortable bed, however, duvet cover was split open allowing a dirty, very old looking duvet to spill out of the seam. Shower very troublesome (air lock) but staff very helpful and attentive and finally after 30 mins of trying between us we eventually got hot water. Our room was situated over the entrance to... More

Due to another hotel refusing to honor a booking because they had made an error in the room price we had to select a hotel at one days notice. Fortunately we discovered this gem. Quiet surroundings, extremely helpful staff, reasonably priced, good food in the restaurant and a full English breakfast individually cooked for you. The room was small but... More

First impression of the Russell Hotel was good...it's a grand building in some very pretty grounds, and I received a big smiling welcome at reception. My room was on the first floor (for any Americans reading the review that's one floor up from the ground level!). I was told there was no lift / elevator - not a problem for... More

Overall Hotel good. Do check that you have a shower that works in your room and that the water doesn't turn off!!! Not a pleasant experience when your hair is full of shampoo. One more point - no lock on bathroom door, which was inclined to swing open.

The hotel lobby was impressive and the staff were friendly and efficient. Then comes the shock - no lift - by luck we were on the first floor so only two flights of stairs to climb with our suitcases. Pity the guests on the upper floor. The bedroom and bathroom were clean but dated - very dark, possibly late 70's... More

Arrived with friends to tea and nice selection of cakes and before dinner a good selection of canapes. The six course dinner was excellent except for a rather strange pear and watercress soup. Coffee and cheese available at the end of the evening. Magician performed tricks throughout the early part of the evening followed by a singer and disco. Hearty... More

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding at archbishops palace. Location wise this hotel is perfect for central maidstone and not too far a walk from maidstone east railway station. They also have a large free on site car park. The hotel doesn't have a lift and the majority of rooms are on the upper floors so be... More
