The staff were pleasant and the room was clean. That's the best I can say for this tired, dated hotel. There were no spare pillows in our room nor, apparently, were there any in the entire hotel. The cold tap in the sink didn't work so we were obliged to clean our teeth in the bath. There is a nightclub adjacent... More

I have stayed here in the week for a few weeks and will continue to do so. It's old and dated, but clean & pleasant. Beers not the best but 2 witherspoons within walking distance make up for that, for a budget town centre hotel it's one of the better ones. Breakfast is ok too, warned on a Bain Marie.

I stayed at this hotel on business, not my choice but made the most of it. The rooms are extremely dated and could really do with bringing into the 21st century. On the plus side the staff are really friendly and helpful, the beds are really comfy( well mine was) and the food is ok for the price. The location... More

First and last time I stay at the Red Liaon. To be honest for a pretty high price I would expect the room to be clean and at least the view from the room not to look like a s..hole. Probably the worst room Ive stayed in for cleanliness. Used biscuit wrappers on the dressing table wasnt the best start... More

Stopped at this hotel last year. Clean and tidy. Good housekeeping. Food is average. Plenty of hot water and the rooms are warrn enough. You control the heating with a wall mounted convection heater. Breakfast is a serve yourself full english with choice of pastries and cereals etc. Has a reasonably large car park. Festival Place is just a short... More

I stayed here for 2 nights at the red lion. The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. Had food in the restaurant where the staff there were very friendly and chatty. Had the rump of lamb for main course probably the best meal I have had in a long time. Would highly recommend eating there 10 out of... More

Arrived ready for the Easter special priced at 19.99 per person. Starter at best very average but acceptable. The Beef dinner arrived the worst cut of beef I have ever seen, Fatty bright red almost bloody. Waiter said this is how they cook their beef, this was not on the menu and should have been explained prior to order. I... More

I stayed one night at the Red Lion in Basingstoke on a business trip. I was travelling by train and the location close to the station was the main reason it was recommended to me. The hotel is 10 minutes (max) walk from the station, mostly walking through the large bright mall that is the main shopping centre of Basingstoke.... More

If I could give a minus rating……I would To start with the good: Excellent location, free parking for guests, that’s it. So where do I start: the hotel is outdated, not clean. It is way overpriced. Got nothing to say about “quality of guest”. I had to stay at this hotel due to business, and I would say I would... More
