Recently stayed at The Pack Horse, was slightly hesistant after reading previous reviews. Nevertheless decided to take a chance, found the staff most helpful. The hotel itself has an old worldly charm about it....It is ideally situated in the town centre which was suitable for our visit. The breakfast is good value for money and I feel previous reviews have... more

An extra five pounds to park on an unsupervised and unlocked building site 300 yards away was not a great start. Things went downhill from there. Although I'd booked online prior to my arrival, I was stood at the reception desk for over 20 minutes due to the receptionist having had a "late night" the night before... Her words not... more

I lived in Bolton for 15 years before moving away so was aware of its reputation. Before I left Bolton I had two very disastrous formal dinners there, but given that was nearly 6 years ago I thought it might have improved. I was sorely wrong. First of all, when we arrived I checked with the receptionist that we had... more

What can I say about this hotel... At two stars in Bolton I certainly wasn't expecting the Ritz but nevertheless when booking a hotel for the night, (which is by no means particularly cheap) you do expect to at least be able to get into your bed without wanting to vomit. This place is by far the worst place I... more

I've just got back from a one night stay at this hotel which I booked at short notice and did not have time to research properly. The room was filthy with traces of vomit on the lampshades in the room and dubious looking stains on the curtains. The carpets were sticky and dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned in the... more

Quite possibly the most worst hotel, if you could call it that, Ive ever stayed in. The girl at the front desk was abrupt and rude. The whole hotel was stinking and rooms very untidy and really in need of a serious makeover. Very noisy at night and quite frankly appauling. more

This hotel is in need of a refurbishment. If you are going out in Bolton and want something that is near to the clubs, it is the ideal location. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. more

Phillip at the front desk and the other hotel staff were wonderful! Though the hotel has seen its better days, the staff tries to make up for this. They were always pleasant and willing to have a chat about local and international events. The room was clean and quiet most of the time. Weekend party goers to local bars were... more

Needed to stay in the centre of Bolton, and this hotel offered the most ideal location. Looked promising when entering the reception area, large and spacious, but upon climbing the stairs to my second floor room, it was apparent the hotel was in need of a refurbishment. The room itself was basic and seemed fairly clean, with a large bathroom.... more

Stayed earlier in year with friends and was great, However December was dire, wallpaper peeling bedding stained no heating shower did not work staff very unhelpful. Just to mention a few points, I believe Manager has left!! was so bad we just did not stay and went to Holiday Inn just around corner a lot more expensive but at least... more
