We used the Copthorne Hotel Effingham as a stop off before our early morning flight the next day. The 'front of house' is nice however the rooms are looking tired and could do with a refurbishment. We had a drink in the Sports Bar which also looked a little tired and need of some TLC. The restaurant food was average... more

I had stayed at this hotel before on a business awayday a few years back so was feeling fine about returning for a two day offsite meeting with colleagues. However the location of the hotel with its close vicinity to Gatwick means that it caters primarily for one night stays and 7 or 14 day car parking whilst you are... more

We checked in with our 3yr old, the pool was great. The staff that we encountered were wonderful. The rooms could use a bit of love but not a big deal. My family and I enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay or recomend this hotel. Very easy shuttle to the airport and at a good price. more

We stayed at this hotel on an overnight stop as we had an early flight out of gatwick the following morning. We have stayed at this hotel before but on that occasion had been in one of the Jacuzzi rooms that had been refurbed (and was very nice). This time we were travelling with our 3 year old daughter, so... more

After reading the review on the website, we were a little worried that we had booked a weekend there to celebrate out 10th wedding anniversary. However, once we got there we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated and tired in places but the staff and the service compensates for it. Our 8 year old daughter loved... more

The worst ever hotel i have been to! Was supposed to stay here for two nights but had to cut it short and stayed at another hotel. There is nothing positive that I could say about this hotel (trust me, i have tried my best!). We were charged £105 per room per night, and for that price I think we... more

Booked 2 nights but only stayed the one as I was too depressed to stay another night in what could be, a really nice hotel. Unfortunately the bedrooms are in desperate need of refurbishment and customers in the 21st century expect more for the £80-90 a room charge per night. The decor in the room corridors is old fashioned, our... more

Our stay at the Copthorne Effingham started to go wrong when there was a gap of 45 minutes between the starter and main course during dinner. The bottle of white wine, which had been served only slightly chilled, was warming up rapidly and when we asked for an ice bucket it only contained water as the restaurant “had no ice”.... more

There are some plus points to this hotel. It has got nice surroundings and the staff are very sweet and friendly. However the staff can't make an old hotel in desperate need of renovation, look new. Being a business traveller and having stayed in numerous hotels in the area, I picked the Copthorne due to cheap price for what was... more

I stayed here for 2 nights on my own for work.On arrival the receptionist was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. My room was large with lovely view and balcony, however although the main bed - a super king bed at least - was fab - there were 2 camp style beds in the room which felt a little cramped -... more
