We found the hotel entrance difficult to find. Large buildings surround the hotel entrance from the unsecure car park. Hotel signage is poor and the sign was hidden by a large van. Hotel needs total upgrade..fiorst impressions were threadbare carpets in corridors, wallpaper needing replacing. Room itself was a good size but again needed overhaul. Smelt so badly of smoke... more

We booked online and the blurb said it had been refurbished. I couldn't see any evidence of this. The location is conveniently central and there is ample free unsecured parking but these are the only redeeming features. The room was raosting hot and the radiator only did off or full on. The room was booked for a double but only... more

Arrived in the hotel from the back car park and got shocked! Looks like the back of a factory! Ugly bricks buildings! The website shows a cute and old front facade of a XVII century building but that was not the first impression! The room was smelling cigarette smoke and nothing was done to erase this smell! The bathroom was... more

We have been traveling the UK and Europe so when we need to fly out of Gatwick we stay here. Every room we have had has been clean and spacious. Could have new mattresses but it really is great value for money. Clean bathroom and bed is a number 1 for us and this place has always had exactly that! more

If you have a high tolerance for the creep factor, than this place will be fine. Otherwise, I would say pay a little more and go somewhere else. The reception was dark and dingy. The bar had some questionable folk hanging out. There were groups of very noisy young drunk people banging around at all hours of the night. All... more

Stopped at the George for two nights in June, first impressions were a bit disappointed, mock tudor on the outside - but past reception (where the rooms are) isn't as nice, still the actual hotel staff were really good - and I didn't have any complaints with the service. I was a bit disappointed the room didn't have Sky, but... more

Both me and the mrs stayed here as we had a 5am flight the next day from Gatwick. It's in the middle of Crawley High Street so there;s loads to do and it's close to the train station. The big bonus is they can organise transfers to Gatwick at any time for £8 which is almost half the normal fair.... more

As we drove in I thought "Oh no" The car park was rough and the outside looked shabby. However the inside was completely different, nicely decorated and clean, the room was a good size with a comfy bed, tv. hairdryer etc. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and a 15 screen cinema just down road, Breakfast was fantastic,... more

BEWARE if you want an airport transfer arranged by this hotel. The internet rates quote £4 each way, but what the hotel do not tell you is that when you arrive at the hotel the price of a room, for one night, rises by £12, making it £10 each way; more than double the other hotels in the area. As... more

This hotel is the worst I've stayed in. I'm one for liking cheap and cheerful but this certainly isn't it!! I only paid £39 for the night but it is no excuse. I stayed at the Skylane Hotel, Gatwick the week before for the same price and recommend it!! On check-in the receptionist tried to charge me full price for... more
