You can't do any better than the Old Rectory of St. James. Excellent service with high attention to detail. The "little things" count, and the cream tea oupon check-in arrival is a VERY nice touch. Excellent breakfast, clean, very well appointed rooms, lovely garden.

So you know how you make a reservation for one night in case it is not a nice place? I extended my time! It was a wonderful place to stay. Clean, quiet and well appointed rooms. Wonderful breakfast made to order with locally sourced foods. And lovely greenery and flowers that made me wish I could have stayed longer

Excellent hospitality in a very comfortable guest house set in lovely quiet surroundings. Adrian and Rosemary are perfect hosts and the breakfasts were amazing with locally sourced produce, fresh fruit salads, home made bread and preserves. We will certainly be returning.

Rosemary & Adrian gave us the most marvellous welcome, with tea and homemade cakes in their wonderful garden on our arrival. After a long journey it hit just the right spot. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat within easy reach of the Ironbridge museums or Cosford Air Museum. This is just the perfect spot. We doubt whether you... More

The welcome we received was second to none, the tea and cakes on arrival were delicious, everything you read in the reviews is true and accurate, Rosemary and Adrian are a lovely couple and I would not hesitate in recommending this property to family and friends. The Iron Bridge Museums are a short drive away and Adrian recommended some restaurants... More

What a gorgeous place the old rectory is. A beautiful country house with a magnificent garden - a real testament to the love and care Rosemary lavishes upon it. We had a wionderful, peaceful and restorative stay. Adrian and Rosemary are so welcoming and helpful. We particularly appreciated Adrian finding us a National Trust property, nearby, that we could visit... More

My wife and I have just spent a most fabulous weekend at this wonderful guest house (it was my birthday) When we arrive mid afternoon we were made to feel most welcome from the minute our car came through the entrance gate. Our bedroom room was on the first floor which was massive as was the bathroom and my favorite... More

We arrived fairly late, after a long drive but we were still greeted by our hosts - Adrian and Rosemary - with a delicious home-made cream tea. Our room was on the ground floor, with it's own entrance and exit, and was attractively and very comfortably furnished. The attached shower-room was also well fitted and furnished. Our hosts recommended a... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A warm welcome awaits at this quintessentially English Guest House. The ideal choice for Business and Pleasure. Rosemary and Adrian are delighted to welcome you to this period Georgian Guest House, set in a quiet oasis, close to the bustling centre of Telford, the footpaths over the Shropshire hills and historic Ironbridge. Originally the Rectory of St James' Church from the 17th century to about 1975, it now provides quality bed and breakfast accommodation, with charm and character, and that little bit extra. We delight in providing a convivial atmosphere where the simple things are done well; a vase of fresh flowers in your room: a tray of home made cakes that greets you on your arrival: a well cooked breakfast of locally produced ingredients with homemade bread and jams plus eggs from our own hens. ... more   less
