I've been going (on and off) to the Pear Tree for the last 15 years. This time was dinner for 9 with two couples staying over. Despite having a full restaurant and a large private party (in another room) the service was excellent. Another wonderful meal in a great atmosphere. They also had a special on which was £55 for... more

A lovely hotel with friendly staff and pleasant rooms. The personal service is fantastic and the restaurant boasts one of the UK top 100 chefs, and it shows in the qualityof the menu and the food. First rate! The menu had it all, salmon, deer, beef, tuna and more and the desserts were to die for!! The hotel is very... more

I have traveled a good deal throughout my life. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with lodging. It was more of a B&B, which to me is a good thing. The wonderful, warm, friendly accomodating staff met our every need. The beautiful gardens in the back of the stone house are tranquil and enchanting (even... more

Just a one night stay with family (all adult) but felt really welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. An early check-in was no problem (phone ahead to check). Tea in the library to welcome us. Attentive non-intrusive staff, hotel owner on site. Dining room in the conservatory, inventive varied menu presented with care and an excellent wine list.... more

We arranged to stay at the Pear Tree as a last special weekend away prior to arrival of our first child. We were really looking forward to a lovely stay and a great meal. We turned up only to find that our reservation had been cancelled 2 days before the weekend without anyone bothering to contact us. We had driven... more

Unfortunately we didn't get to stay here, despite looking forward to doing so. When we arrived early on Saturday afternoon we were told that we had cancelled our room on the Thurs just before, which was utterly untrue (hence we still travelled >2 hours to get there). I have an unusual surname and it is not feasible to think that... more

Arrived at this charming hotel at the end of a day on the road and was warmly welcomed. The room ( see pic) was perfectly furnished and equipped for a country hotel and was one of two rooms on the ground floor with its own patio. The management and staff are clearly on top of everything and I think I... more

I have just made my second visit to the Pear Tree and give it 10 out of 10 again. The food was superb, the service was faultless and the staff welcoming - and they perfectly balance professionalism with friendliness. Everything was so good, I am going back next month. more

I visited The Pear Tree at Purton for a meal to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The meat was chewy, the vegetables were not fully cooked and what they said was potato was burnt. I could not recommend the restaurant to anyone. more

What joy.

I have just returned from having lunch at The Pear Tree, Purton with my partner and my Mother. What a joy it was. It was very peaceful, the service was impeccable, and the food was very good. Such a difference from an establishment not too far away which gives the impression that it is the bees knees in that area.... more
