Just endured a very poor stay at the Pear Tree Restaurant. Having been recommended by friends we had fairly high expectations. However, I wish I hadn't bothered going for Mothers Day. The restaurant wasn't too busy considering the day, however the service was terrible. We attended at 1pm and our table wasn't ready for nearly an hour. It was half... more

There are some really great things about this hotel, the grounds are stunning, the rooms are nice and big and the restaurant serves some great food. However, there were a few issues... Our room was a great size and it was a nice touch to have fruit and biscuits left for us, but as other reviewers have stated the only... more

We stayed at The Pear Tree as we were looking for a good hotel which would allow our dog to stay with us. We were very pleased to be given a room which had direct access to the garden for our dog and were given a very warm welcome. All the staff, and the owner, were friendly and efficient. However,... more

We chose The Pear Tree because it claims to be dog friendly - and it certainly is! On arrival, our dogs found in 'their' room not only a dog bowl, but bottled spring water and chews to go with it! The spacious grounds are freely available for dogs to roam, and are well lit for that last-minute night-time 'relief '... more

We returned from a weekend break at the Pear Tree a week ago. We were intitally impressed by the warm welcome although the hotel interior is rater tired looking but spotlessly clean. The rooms were a similar standard with complimentary shortbread and sherry. We would (and most other people I should imagine) have preferred tea and coffee in the room.... more

Stayed over at the Pear Tree with friends for one night in early December First impressions were very strong as this is a lovely old fashioned stone house set in picturesque gardens in the middle of countryside. Inside the decor is less pleasing seeming quite dated in an 80s floral/pink/chintz style. Receptionist was very pleasant and we were shown to... more

Pear Tree is a lovely building, in beautiful grounds, and easy to find. The room was small but comfortable. Dinner was excellent, well served, lovely food and a relaxing environment. Breakfast was disappointing, cold toast, over cooked egg and under cooked tomato! However, service was first class, from the moment we arrived. more

From the moment I pulled up in the taxi outside the Pear Tree I felt relaxed. I received the warmest of welcomes and was delighted with my bedroom which was very spacious and had homely touches such as fresh flowers, a decanter of sherry, homemade biscuits, fresh fruit and ducks in the bathroom! The best thing about my bedroom was... more

Had the pleasure of staying here for two nights on business on 18/19 Sept. Service at reception was excellent on arrival and they made every effort to make me confortable. Room has nice views over well tended gardens. Room itself was spotless, with fresh fruit, drinks, double bed etc. Turned down beds in evening (and they even hung up my... more
