I visited Chiseldon House for afternoon tea this week. The restaurant was very busy with guests who all seemed to be having a great afternoon , but despite being busy – the service was excellent. The food was nicely presented on unusual cake stands and was obviously all freshly made. A nice touch was the sorbet to start with –... More

We had a disappointing experience at the beginning of March with afternoon tea for five as part of a birthday celebration. We were allocated a large table in an almost empty dining room. It was cold, no atmosphere, no background music. Everything was served promptly and politely by our waitress, but the tea itself was very disappointing compared with other... More

You have one shot at Mother's Day lunch each year. This year, we were way off target. Firstly, the Waldorf Salad. For anyone who's seen Fawlty Towers, this should contain walnuts, grapes etc. No nuts, but two grapes each...that should've told us something. Almost an hour later, the main course: Wiltshire Roast Beef. Maybe there just aren't many cows in... More

Had a afternoon tea here for my wife’s birthday. We were very happy with the service and the food was very good. There were more cakes than we could manage and they provided a box for us to take our leftover in. I would recommend this for a posh afternoon tea.

My husband booked afternoon tea for my birthday. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our table in the room overlooking the garden. Our waiter was very efficient and looked after us very well. The table was nicely laid and our sorbet was very refreshing. My husband and I are complete coffee snobs - being very fussy... More

Upon arriving the staff on reception were polite and friendly. The waitress who served us during our time was just wonderful. She was attentive but not overbearing. The food was lovely and so much of it we couldn't finish it all. The staff were generous to pack it up for us to take home. The unlimited tea and coffee was... More

The staff were very helpful and polite. The dining room was very pleasant and tables had lovely white tablecloths. The hot chocolate was delicious but the food, (apart from the sorbet), although nicely presented, was very disappointing compared with afternoon teas I have enjoyed at other establishments. Food consisted of finger sandwiches containing miniscule pieces of gristly ham with sun... More

I stayed for 1 night on business and was attracted by the building facade and other comments. It didn't start well as I had to park in a car park a little distance from the hotel and walk through fairly dark grounds, which was a little unnerving for a lone female. Apparently flood lights are supposed to switch on automatically,... More

Thank you for your review. We appreciate guests giving their time to leave us feedback. There is additional parking available just outside our main entrance which should suit you. Our main car park is a short distance away from the main building so as not to detract from the beautiful frontage of our Georgian building. We will be looking again... More

Having booked for ourselves and friends we were very pleased with our accommodation, our friends had the newly refurbished room ! and that was really special. The Burns night meal was excellent and the Piper really made the occasion, all being well we will be back next year. The breakfast was very good as everything cooked fresh. We our selves... More

Spent the evening with 3 other couples to see in the New Year. Very good menu with choices for all courses. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Late booking so we were in a separate room off the main dining room, which was ideal for our group. The entertainment was a guitarist who also sang, excellent! We have been to this hotel... More
