I had Sunday lunch with a friend and my beef was too chewy to eat. I managed to eat some of it rather than hand it back and took the rest home for the dog. I did tell the waiting staff but I did not get the impression that they cared much. My friend had roast pork and hers was... More

Pleasent location and surprisingly quiet. Staff friendly and an excellent breakfast. Booked last minute and proved to be excellent value. Room large and in very good decorative order having been recently refurbished.

I go to the saracens at least once a month to have dinner and a glass of wine. Simple pub fare. Only thing I'd suggest is- pleasepleaseplease get some more vegetarian options. I get bored of the same old vege lasagne or a salad...and please no more canelloni or rissoto. Aside from that, I've been coming here for YEARS and... More

Not a place for the discerning traveller, basically a pub/restaurant with rooms that are a bit 'tired'. Also a bit of a trial finding your room, and a bit of a musty smell in the communal passageways. However what do you expect for £40 for a double room on a Saturday night including breakfast ? OK it will do the... More

Reception OK but key given out with instructions but no help to find room in a rabbit warren of rooms. Reception and Bar staff friendly but maybe not attentive. My request online for 1st floor room because of elderly angina ridden companion was ignored and we were dispatched to # 12, the roof top 'Family Room' up 2 flights of... More

Stayed 1 night for a hiking weekend with friends. Food was good and reasonably priced. The hotel has its own good parking round the back. The building could do with renovating (like so many inns in the UK): very dated rooms, large cracks in walls, stains, lots of naked plumbing and wiring. The windows let all the noise from the... This establishment is actually in the village of Highworth so the Swindon address is a bit misleading since it is about a 20 minute drive into Swindon. However I was searching for this under the category of restaurant rather than hotel since we did not actually stay here .Whilst visting Highworth for 2 weeks recently to see family and friends... We live locally and stayed here to give our house up to guests. The rooms are definitely in need of an update to be fair, but spotless, and have all facilities. Beds comfortable, good quality cotton bedding and a good night sleep. In the better weather it is a treat to eat outdoors in the heated patio area, and the... More

I had seen the previous review of the hotel and had prepaid so couldn't cancel. I was only staying one night so I wasn't too concerned. Staff were friendly enough but the hotel is a dump and my room had mildew all up one wall. I left early in the morning and skipped breakfast! This place needs COMPLETE and thorough... More

I stayed with my child for I night and wished i had booked elsewhere. The room was on the top floor and it was disgusting. The carpet wasn't clean so we daren't walk round with no shoes on. The bathroom (cupboard) stank of urine. The shower curtain had mould half way up it, so didn't bother using the shower, glad... More
