We arrived early on a Monday evening and were warmly welcomed by Danny. We checked into our lovely room (Room 7) - a large, double aspect room with comfy bed and a good selection of complimentary refreshments, a dressing room and a large, attractive bathroom with a huge shower! We booked in for dinner and were very impressed with the... More

We were walking the Ridgeway and booked this for the overnight portion of our trip. About half a mile from the trail, the location is excellent, in the middle of a charming town, with good views. Our welcome was warm and personal and the look of the place was neat, fresh paint, with personality and character. The Rose and Crown... More

We booked for a meal on a summers evening. When we arrived and had a drink we were told there would be a 15 minute wait which we happily accepted. Unfortunately it extended to 40 minutes before our starters arrived. The staff were apologetic and the food was good, particularly the fish and chips Overall it was a good experience... More

Pub, excellent. Nice mix of old world furniture and spacious modern design, tasty local ales and high quality food, beautifully presented. Top class, friendly service. Bed for the night, fine. The mattress in my room (8) was extremely uncomfortable but otherwise had all the facilities you would expect and was surprisingly quiet - even with the window wide open, I... More

We stayed here on a Friday night while walking part of the Ridgeway. The pub is in an idyllic spot in the village, surrounded by thatched cottages, and has recently been refurbished beautifully both upstairs and downstairs with lots of attention to detail. The bar and dining area was busy and serving high quality food - considerably better than standard... More

We stayed here on the way from the South Coast to Wales. We were late arriving (m25 traffic!) but the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and prepared lovely food and didn't make us feel rushed to move up to our room. We stayed in room 7 (king) and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was 1st class and... More

A lovely pub at reasonable rates for staying overnight. Very helpful staff who couldn't have been more helpful with our dog and baby. Great walks nearby and nice quiet village. Lovely dinner including moules marinieres with chips - delicious. (Seafood night on Fridays) Very reasonable overall and charming pub

Just back from an overnight stay at the Rose and Crown, we had our evening meal there with a party of 10 although only we were staying over. Our meals were excellent, can recommend the steak and pepper sauce! One of our party was disappointed in the soup and on mentioning this the management said we would not be charged... More
