Breakfast was amazing and the rooms were welcoming and comfy, nice decor and relaxing atmosphere If your planning on visiting Derby then I cannot recommend this hotel enough... I wouldn't... More

We are back for our third visit to Thornhill, and pleased to say we have a very comfortable room as usual, a lovely breakfast (especially the bacon!), and a good nights sleep. Last time we did not feel like dining out after being out all day, so bought something at the local Supermarket which we prepared in the guest kitchen,... More

My brother and I stayed here on the weekend of the 14th June in order to attend a friends 60th Birthday celebration in Mickleover. The room was a twin but was extremely well furnished and felt very much like a home from home. Bottled water was provided in the room along with the usual coffee, tea etc. There was the... More

I was a guest here for 10 months (two days a week). The quality was consistent throughout. The accommodation was superb and the service was excellent. Good TV in each room and wifi. The breakfasts were of very good quality; with considerable variety and served when you wanted them. There was a kitchen for guests and so there was help... More

Stayed last weekend. Very impressed!! Lovely location, friendly welcome, spacious room, great sleep, large TV, with a kitchenette, and your own dressing gown - you don't get that in a Hilton! Lovely house as well - my own house seems so small now. Geoff and Rea made me really welcome and the Rock Cakes were appreciated after the long drive... More

Very clean and well presented guest house. Very quiet location and excellent comfortable beds. Breakfast was as advertised, with no complaints. Good parking and close to city centre. Lots of places to eat out or take-away meals can be brought back to the kitchen that is for guest use. Car park available at the rear of the house with nice... More

For several years, a group of us has stayed at Thornhill over the May bank holiday while we take part in a local archery tournament. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. As well as tea and coffee in the room (and a huge, delicious rock cake to greet you when you arrive!) there is a guest kitchen with... More

I have been staying at Thornhill now, for one to four nights a week since April 2013, working close by on business. Originally I stayed there for convenience. However, it was clear, as time went on that I would have struggled to find anywhere as clean, friendly and value for money elsewhere in the area. I think just reading through... More

Back again to stay with Rea and Geoff. They think of everything. Fluffy white dressing gown on to nip in to guest kitchen to make a cup of tea in morning to use fresh milk from fridge. Even the fresh fruit (yes for guests) in the bowl is arranged artistically. This is the best guest house that we stay in... More

Thank you for your kind comments. It is really lovely when guests return to us - it makes us feel that we are doing something right. Geoff is now official fruit arranger, a prestigious promotion! More
