The Hampton is both next to the Holiday Inn (it is connected as it is owned by same landlord) and adjacent to the river. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn for 4 years and the Hampton is the better of the two. The rooms are more spacious, the air conditioning doesn't clang in the night and the breakfast is... More

Just stayed for a sat night and was really satisfied with the hotel. Excellent room, cleanliness and overall quality. Super location close to derby city centre. I am fairly local so knew about the lack of parking so it wasnt a problem to me but if you are travelling from a distance be aware of the extra cost.

This a well situated hotel in the city center. I knew that the parking for the hotel was in an adjacent public car park. However we arrived after a transatlantic flight, plus drive from Heathrow and could not find the entrance. On telephoning the hotel we were told that I had to drop my wife in the street with suitcases!... More

This is a really useful hotel for a short stay. Rooms clean, bright and well appointed and ours had a river view, as did the bar/breakfast room. Friendly staff, and breakfast not bad at all. Very short walk into town and 5 mins walk to restaurants in cathedral quarter. The recommended parking is just a short walk away, but costs... More

The hotel is nicely located in the centre of Derby with as a nice a view as you're going to find in the city (out across the river). I was warmly welcomed on arrival and check-in was quick and straight forward. They also arranged fast checkout so I just had to leave my keys in the room and the bill... More

Stopped at Hamptons in November. The hotel is fine when you eventually get to park and make your way across the bus station and around the hotel into the reception. I asked for a quiet room and we were given a room that if you were of limited mobility would getting to. (was down the end of a very long... More

Overnight stay while travelling. Town centre location, very convenient for walk-about and attractions. Staff friendly, and facilities clean and adequate. Excellent complimentary breakfast. The concealed entrance surrounded by boarded-up shop fronts was a little off-putting.

Great for a visit to Alton towers (30 mins away on quiet roads) - great view of the river and a well stocked bar to enjoy while the kids get on the free wifi. Rooms are a good size and beds really comfy. Fast becoming a family favourite. Well done.

Outside the hotel the surrounding areas are untidy, homeless people sleeping nearby and teenagers sitting in groups. Once in hotel, room was clean and tidy. Nice view from restaurant window. Complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, but the cooked breakfast let it down. We would stayed again.

- Staff very friendly However, three comments : - Quite noisy air-co even after turning it off - Breakfast can be improved (no fresh juice, coffee from "office type" machine..) - No WIFI in rooms ! Using the cable connection provided, very very slow internet connection (Impossible to send a 2 MB e-mail..) Reception is on the 4th floor.
