Our whole stay was really lovely. The reception staff, spacious bedroom, excellent restaurant, good food with choice, etc etc. We would have liked to have stayed longer but already had booked elsewhere for the balance of our week away near to the Peak District. Pity really.

I stayed here for two nights and was impressed by the quality - a fridge in the room, a balcony (a ararity in UK hotels) and excellent service. The room service menu was a little disappointing but on the second night I found a nearby pub that was good value. I'm never keen on hotels considering two single beds as... More

The room itself was very nice indeed, and we were delighted with it. The view of the yawning bins with the dual carriageway behind was not so great, though, and I felt that a hotel of this supposed calibre should offer a cafetiere rather than sachets of instant coffee. I was equally disappointed with the absurd kettle which squirts steam... More

Stayed here for a weekend on a Travelzoo deal whilst having some work to our kitchen at home which meant no water for the weekend. We paid £149 for a superior room with dinner included for one night of our stay & breakfast. We arrived quite late on the Friday night so had a bar meal food was OK nothing... More

We arrived in a 53-seater coach, to be met by a team of porters who very quickly unloaded and labelled our suitcases, before delivering them to our rooms. A Manager came on the coach to welcome us and brief us on mealtimes etc. The hotel is extremely well presented and the organisation extremely good. The food is excellent and service... More

My wife and I stayed here while visiting family. We had paid for a superior room but were very kindly upgraded to the Kedlestone suite which was comfy, large and had a balcony. The hotel has a gym and spa but these are dated and when we stayed seemed very crowded. The Resturant has no atmosphere and the diner we... More

My wife and I once again chose this hotel as we are familiar with the rooms and service and enjoy our stays there. No problems this time apart from the restaurant. We sat at our table (being one of the first to take a seat. Very soon a coach load of people came in. They had set menus whilst we... More

I arrange an annual reunion for around 18 ex- RAF guys and their partners and we have stayed at the Menzies Mickleover every June for the last 8 years. Over this time the cost has risen by a few pounds but is always excellent value for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. We always have a great time and are made very... More

We normally like this hotel, convenient and have used it just for a bar meal in the evening, but it is getting worse. The bar steward was very off-hand and it looked like it was an effort to even talk to us. While my wife found a seat I ordered her a drink. He looked at the glass he had... More
