I have stayed here a few times although last time I had a fall in one of the bathrooms and I Had hurt my leg quite bad and required a visit to a&e, and a week off work. The staff that attended to me were very caring and couldn't do enough at the time ensuring measures would be put into... More

Overall this was a good experience, just falling short of excellent by a couple of things. Let's start with the good. Well dressed room, jazz singer producing a nice atmosphere, great seasonal menu. Service was generally good, but possibly could do with a bit of polish. When tables have been booked, there should not be a discussion suggesting they have... More

We visited for an afternoon tea to celebrate a 90th & 85th birthday. We were immediately impressed when given a choice of a variety of teas with samples to check the aroma. The Christmas themed afternoon tea was very pleasant with some lovely sandwiches and selection of sweets. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We would recommend the Mayan... More

Stayed here for a night. Slap bang in the middle of where its happening. Attentive service excellent breakfast, Bar area pleasant. Ambiance good with some most impressive original architecture. Best bit, all staff appeared genuine and and were most hospitable. If im in Derby again this is where im staying!!

Visited the Hotel to partake in afternoon tea. Not too many customers. Food was excellent, the whole "tea" event was performed with skill. Why not a 5? Bread was white, would have liked choice, preferred granary. Chocolate brownie was too sweet. There was a draught blowing through the room. Would I return, YES

My husband and I decided to stay here as a treat before our first child is born in January. We arrived at the hotel, looks very nice from outside but where do we even begin with inside! A bath full of hair, urine on the toilet seat, ripped wall paper, filthy sheets, tatty furniture, dirty/stained cups, curtains full of marks,... More

What an amazing building and a weekend stay that promised so much - we were staying in town for two nights to attend the ICO National Screening Days at the QUAD. However things went very wrong right from the outset. The wash basin in our bathroom was blocked, as evidenced by the flow back when I washed my hands on... More

Nice old building, a bit akward to arrive in the reception in the middle of a wedding party, with our luggage and travelling clothes, amongst elegant guests drinking their cocktails. The room was fine, overlooking a nice stained glass window. The wedding party music did not really bother us and it stopped at 11pm; the room was quiet.
