The owners / managers dog in the private residents room (opposite room 10 where I stayed) kept barking and kept me awake. The last bark was at 12.25am. Also the member of staff on check in was not helpful and initially told me I didn't have the correct booking with them. It is totally unacceptable to have a barking dog... More

Hotel is in an excellent location, beside rail station, 2 minutes walk from main bus station and approximately 5 minutes walk to the high street for shops, When I arrived to check in I was waiting a long time - the bar man was attending to a group however I didn't get a good first impression as the bar man... Reading the very mixed reviews, after my colleague had already booked us in, I did enter the main entrance with more than a little trepidation! Needn't have worried, friendly welcome, decent choice of beers and lagers, clean room, what more could you ask for £37! What's more, my bathroom was very clean and modern, so don't believe everything you read!!... More

I’m sure some reviewers were disappointed at the lack of a liveried doorman, but that ain’t what this place is about. It provides clean, basic accommodation for weary travelers. It has friendly staff and a good supply of alcohol to suit most tastes downstairs. It has room doors which close quietly too! Please note the location. It is a hop... More

Stayed here for one night. It did the job i suppose. I arrived to reception and the receptionist was sitting at the bar watching telly. Not very welcoming or professional but no harm done. Arrived to my room, It was small but okay, very clean (so i thought, wait till end) but the floor boards were very loud. It was... More

Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend as we were getting a train the next morning. The staff were very relaxed and polite which made us feel comfortable. The room was lovely and the shower worked perfectly. I just found it hard to sleep because it was really warm but overall it was lovely :)

Decent, mainly clean (if a little dated) bedrooms, i agree with other comments that its too hot in the rooms, the bathroom tiles needed a good clean and there were several dead light bulbs, but no real complaints. friday night is karaoke night, and i could hear every song being murdered in my bedroom, that said, it all went quiet at...
