I first visited at the beginning of last year and was really impressed by the pub. Friendly staff, bags of character, and a really quirky layout. I visited again at the end of the year and decided to try the restaurant. The food was great, and so were the portions! Very nicely done out, and the waitress was very friendly!

Stayed at the new inn when visiting Gloucester on business. It was close to the location which was great but the actual standard of the hotel was poor. I know for £44 I shouldn't expect the ritz but the cleanliness of the room decor was dirty. Stains on carpet and black mould on bathroom ceiling. The bed covers were clean... More

I take strong exception to your comments that the room was not clean. Our housekeepers take great efforts to clean the rooms and I think you will find that they are not dirty but rather old! What exactly do you suggest we do about pigeons ia a city centre?!! More

Stopped for 1 night in a budget room. Great location. The city centre location is perfect for visiting local attractioNs such as the Cathedral. Smack bang in city centre with parking too, parking was not the easiest to find but directions were good from hotel. Room was ok, floor was uneven and decor was old and tired. For the price... More

We just happened upon this quaint coffee/tea room not long before closing time. The staff were extremely welcoming and happy to serve despite the late hour. We each had a drink with a piece of cake and all the cakes were excellent. We did not experience any of the hotel services but will certainly be back to the coffee house.

i would recommend staying here .the building itself creates a unique atmosphere the bed rooms have character .mind your head if your tall .it is a lovely old building .build hundreds of years ago from wood, not a straight wall or level floor in the place, you could just imagine watching a play by shakespeare in the courtyard from the... This Inn has something for everyone, hotel, restaurant, bar's and a coffee house, so if you're like us and don't drink alcohol, you still enjoy the atmosphere, carvery is on past the quaint hotel reception, some nice leather sofa's in this part, rooms are reasonable and affordable.

This is a pub with a courtyard that would be nice in the summer. Rooms are very dated but clean and beds are okay. I was only staying one night. Dinner was okay at the restaurant order a sirloin steak, peppercorn sauce was not good, very watery Nobody Round at breakfast A Buffett is set up and replenished by the... More

We went to Gloucester to visit our daughter at her college. Her and her boyfriend had spotted the place during an evening out. It is a lovely old inn full of character with a superb first floor gallery that would look great in an Elizabethan drama. If you add to this an excellent choice of ales and comfortable bedrooms then... More

Booked for a couple of nights as thought it would be a change to stay more central and also check if it would be suitable for a visit later in the year with friends, unfortunately we will not be returning. There is a lot of character to the place but it is looking tired. Our room was ample in size... More

You probably won't find a better example of a traditional coaching inn in the world. A good selection of bars and restaurants are now housed in the inn offering carvery food and a decent pub. Rooms are old fashioned but perfectly good for £59 per night. It's right in the centre of Gloucester so handy for a tourist. I'd recommend... More
