Having stayed at the Wellington for a number of nights I can confirm the Staff and Accomodation are First Class. The Breakfasts and Evening meals are superb. The roaring log fire in the Bar gives a warm friendly feel to the whole Hotel. Highly Recommended.

I have stayed at the 'Welly' on numerous occasions. A warm welcome awaits all visitors and that's not just because of the roaring log fire in the bar. The staff cannot be faulted in anyway whatsoever - they are always friendly, courteous and helpful.

Just returned from a 4 day break in Yorkshire and we stumbled upon the Wellington Inn. The setting of this pub is idyllic with great views. Inside is lovely, with a big open log fire, very welcoming. There was a good menu and a specials board. The food was of a high standard. The landlord was very friendly and the... More

Enjoyed a warm welcome and delicious meal at this lovely country pub. Good value, great service and the best roast beef meal ever! Thanks! We would not hesitate to return. Open fire made the restaurant really cosy.

We called into this old favourite after a long dales walk with friends and dogs. It does always offer a warm welcome and good menu options. My fish pie was very good although my husband's venison burger a bit rubbery in texture . We managed to sample a selection of the desserts including the White chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee... More

We have been to this large establishment twice - Last year we were only after a snack, however there were only full meals on the menu, so as we saw that fish pie was on offer, we chose that, and it was delicious. Again this March, we came just for a drink after walking around Fountains Abbey with the dog.... More

Booked four single rooms using the rubbish hotels.com booking service. Arrived circa 8pm, tired, dishevelled and hungry. The landlord looked us up and down, told us that we had no reservation as all the rooms had been treble-booked and with that he turned away and washed his hands of us. We got absolutely no help nor sympathy whatsoever from the... More

Dear Strudwick We appreciate your frustration over this matter but we were considerably overbooked on Valentine's Day because of a problem with one of the online hotel booking sites. This was not our fault and we apologise on their behalf. We did try to find alternative accommodation for other guests in this situation but, being Valentine's Day, everywhere local that... More

Great spot for walking and then settling in the pub next to the fire with a good pint of landlord. Really nice food in the bar or restaurant. Steak one of the best and scollops lovely. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Can't recommend the place enough. Only niggle is beds are a little hard, memory foam toppers would fix this.... More

Dear Trinitycat We are really sorry you found the beds a bit hard. The good news is that we're replacing all our existing mattresses this month with brand new medium grade ones, as well as mattress toppers. We are very glad you enjoyed all other aspects of your stay. Thanks for the feedback. The Wellington More

It was nearly 20 years since my partner last visited The Wellington, I'm really pleased to advise after all this time it hasn't lost any of its charm. Beautiful spot, great welcome, a great menu, exceptionally well presented dishes, with great ambiance, views and venue. I thoroughly recommend anyone to seek this place out either for a drink or three... More

Bought as a surprise and very enjoyable. Nice cosy traditional pub, beer good and excellent price. Had a sandwich in the bar (not bad) but also had a steak in the restaurant - Excellent. Breakfast very tasty and plenty of it. Rooms looking slightly tired (seen much worse) but was advised that these are being updated in 2015. All in... More
