Really lovely place to stay. Room was excellent and extremely comfortable. Hosts were exceptional and very friendly. Shame we could not stay longer but we will return. Breakfast was more than we expected and was very fresh and well presented. Many thanks for a great stay.

After seeing the excellent reviews for this B & B we decided to see for ourselves. When we arrived we found a lovely old pub in a picturesque village with lots of charm. The owner (Carol) showed us to our room which was a barn conversion directly behind the pub. On entering the first door there were then three doors... More

Stopped for lunch at the Lamb and Flag and we were not overwhelmed by the standard of the food on offer. I had salmon, new potatoes and salad which although cooked reasonably well, were just as they were. No dressing on the salad ( and none available...I did ask!) so resorted to a pack of mayonnaise. The new potatoes were... More

We read some reviews on trip advisor, most of which were good but some not so. However I'm glad to say I can highly recommend this place and we would like to return. We had the smallest room, but it was fine for our stay. Both the bedroom and en suite were modern and extremely clean. Bed comfy, room nice... More

Visited with a few local friends and loved it... When I think of an English pub this basically fits the bill. Great selection of beer and awesome craic. Highly recommended, especially if you approach from the cool alley on the side of the place

We had a lovely room with our own patio. The breakfast was continental and in a fridge. This I liked as being a bit of a slug in the morning we could serve ourselves when we wanted in our PJ's a little like home from home. The main reason we gave a very good was also Carol's kindness and going... More

My husband and I visit Yorkshire every couple of years and have relatives that live close by. We wouldn't stay anywhere but Bishop Monkton and absolutely love The Lamb and Flag. It remains a traditional pub, small and cosy and while the food is excellent, the pub hasn't been converted into a restaurant as many others have been. The landlords... More

Called in for an evening meal on Wednesday night. The pub was not busy when we arrived, just a few locals. We were made very welcome and ordered our meals. Soon they were besieged with orders as the pub filled up with diners. Our starters arrived promptly as did our main course. We were happy to let that settle as... More

We had already booked a table at the Mason's Arms, but decided to have a beer here before hand, mainly to see if the reports on the welcome were true or not, and if we would want to eat here later in the week. The barmaid who served us was friendly enough, but the landlord does not seem to engage... More
