Looked for somewhere close to Harrogate and came across the Lamb and Flag which had good reviews so decided to give it go. They say that first impressions count and for us that was certaily the case. I had phoned to say we were going to be late and was told not to worry as they served food until 8.45pm.... More

The Fountains room was clean, warm and spacious, with a large comfy bed and flat screen tv. Hosts Carol and Trevor were friendly and helpful, and the food in the cosy pub was good. I loved having breakfast in my room, and the fridge was replenished daily with milk and a variety of fresh meats, fruit juice, bread, croissants, scones,... More

Stayed one night at The Barn at The Lamb and Flag, The Barn is just behind the pub. We had the Jervaulx room which has a double bed, en-suite bath and shower, it does have more room in it than appears on the web site picture (November 2013), as the large double door wardrobe has been replaced by a single... There are 3 converted barn rooms; we stayed in the Rievaulx room that had the Double bed, additional sofa bed, en-suite bath and shower. It was very tastefully decorated and had many nice features. We ate in the pub for the first night of our 2 night stay; this was good home cooking & reasonably priced. Carol and Trevor Pawson... More

Lovely pub in a great little village. We stayed in the Fountains room and it was perfect for a weekend away. A very comfortable room furnished to a high standard. The continental breakfasts in the room to have at your leisure is a brilliant idea! We ate our evening meals in the pub. The food was outstanding and selection of... More

stayed for 2 nights in the fountains room... very comfortable and we were lucky enough to have some sunshine to enjoy the small outside patio area. Our friends had booked overnight accommodation at the Harlow Carr Hotel (formerly Harrogate Arms) in Harrogate as we were en-route to the Lake District. Well, arrived and it had closed down. A visit to the T.I.C in Harrogate and we were found two rooms in The Barn at the Lamb and Flag pub in Bishop Monkton, near Ripon. What a... More

The Fountains roomhas a lovely sunny patio for breakfasts in the sun. The hosts are keen to make your stay enjoyable. It is a country pub with good food, good beer and a friendly atmosphere. The offer of gluten free food is a welcome addition to a range of quality local food and drink.
