Stayed here for 2 nights at a conference. You can almost touch the conference centre from the Alvera Court, which was ideal. Unlike some B and Bs, there was parking (no extra charge) and you got your own key, so we could nip back and freshen up as and when we had a gap in our schedule. We got a... more

The Alvera Court Hotel is directly across the road from the Convention Centre and about 5 minutes walk from town. The full English breakfast is first rate, served promptly. I have an issue with the use of the term ‘superior’. What a hotel inspector’s check-list might deem ‘superior’ is not necessarily the average guest’s understanding. Room 7 this weekend was... more

This large double room is on the second floor, in a town house consisting of two floors. The shower is larger than normal measuring 1000 x 700, and the room was never advertised as having a bath. The full description and photo's are on our website.

What can I say? On the telephone, the lady I spoke with kept interrupting me and I had the distinct impression she thought she was speaking with an imbecile. Every question I asked was met with exasperation. Despite the fact that I as yet have not found somewhere to stay, I was becoming more and more unsure while speaking to... more

The telephone questions are always anwered to the best of our ability. We never hang up on anyone. Sometimes because we are unable to assist a caller with accommodation and also be unable to answer the questions he or she wishes to hear from us there is the inevitable frustration by the telephone caller.. It is difficult to find a...

We stayed at Alvera Court for 2 nights, the rooms were clean pleasantly decorated and the bed was comfortable. Also the shower was great, nice and hot, the bathroom was clean. The breakfast was good and the propriertor, Colin, was very friendly and helpful. It also has it's own car park, which is a bonus, and is ideally located to... more

Stayed at this hotel whilst at a conference. Brilliant location just across the road from the Conference Centre. Nice large room with a firm king sized bed. Room also had a sofa and newly fitted ensuite bathroom. All the in room amenities you would expect for a good 3/4 star hotel but with the individualised service of a B&B. Lovely... more

After reading the two reviews on here, after I had booked, I was unsure what to expect. Well what can I say. My wife and I are well seasoned travellers ranging from hostels through B&B to 5 star super hotels on many continents. An absolutely faultless and pleasant stop. Both owners did everything they could to make sure we enjoyed... more

Scottish woman who runs ??works in hotel is extremely rude and has absolutely no interpersonal skills - why do people like this go into jobs in tourism? I was truly shocked and dumbfounded by her attitude and general hostility - have actually gone as far as filling out a form at the Tourist Board she was that bad! A great... more

The above comments came from a lady who only enquired about accommodation, but wished to arrive after the latest check in. As we do not have a night porter to accept arrivals at midnight or later, the lady was advised that her requiredments would be better filled by a larger establishment. The lady did not stay with us, so cannot...
