This hotel is a little quirky. Some of the fitting out may have been done by an enthusiastic amateur. And it rambles a bit. However all the important things are right : staff, beds, cleanliness, location, and especially breakfast. Breakfast was fantastic.

Bed rooms not perfect but the bed was, so a good nights sleep - that's more important than a lick of paint. Staff were perfect. Quiet location but only a few minutes walk into centre. Will use again if going to Harrogate.

I booked The Balmoral for one of my friends Hen weekend, on their 'Here come the girls package' There were 21 of us in total, & the hotel did an absolutely fantastic job of not only suggesting places to go & helping co-ordinate, they ensured that we were not short of anything whilst we were in the hotel. A few... More

We couldn't have asked for more. We had a huge suite. Quiet and relaxing ground floor room, lots of space. Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, very comfy bed. Bearing in mind that big chain hotels are no cheaper for much less space and comfort. We can't wait to stay again.

We stayed here for 2 nights during a road trip around Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Staff excellent, especially the young lady on reception, who I think was Katy? She was really helpful and friendly. We had a four-poster room which was quite Gothic, almost like staying in someones small stately home. They are very dog-friendly too. breakfast is cooked fresh, none... More

I went for a romantic stay with my boyfriend. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The decor was very nice and room was clean. We had a nice breakfast and were able to access town easily- only a 5 minute walk. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we would most certainly be staying again soon.

Recently stayed here for a birthday celebration. Location is excellent and literally a 10 minute walk will see you in the town centre. I agree with previous reviewers that the rooms are tired ( at least ours was). We were on the top floor, the carpet on the stairs leading to upstairs looked like it needed a good hoover/clean. First... More

We booked to stay in the Balmoral at very short notice and were very impressed with how helpful the front of house staff were, whilst waiting for our room to be prepared we were served complementary drinks and were soon taken up to our room. We found the room very comfortable and would definitely stay here again. It was only... More

Husband booked for our 2nd anniversary had asked if we could upgrade but this wasn't done, but think hotel was full. Lovely lobby/ bar area. The room itself was dated and dusty not ideal, lovely sink and toilet but then a traditional pastic toilet seat spoilt the toilet! Shower was very small and if you were anymore than 5ft 10... More

Friday and Saturday night - as a couple, attending a family gathering (elsewhere in Harrogate). Friendly reception and other staff upon arrival, departure and in between: definitely intent on trying to help make it a happy stay. Nice room - in an older, "non-corporate-hotel" kind of style. Good breakfast. Just on the edge of town (walking distance) but this did... More
