A couple of things were not quite right. As Veggy wellington came swimming in gravy (Hence soggy pastry) after asking for the gravy to come in a small jug when we ordered our meals! As none of us like soggy pastry and so easy to place sources and gravy in a small jug so the customer has a chose as... More

Stayed here for a week-long classic car rally round Yorkshire. Could not have asked for a better place. The location is a charming and picturesque village in the fold of a valley only a mile or so off the A59 - it's unspoiled and very peaceful. Landlady Louise (who seems to tirelessly work every waking hour and still stays cheerful!)... More

On our recent visit to our daughter in York we called in, as usual ,to The Queen's Head in the quaintly named village of Kettlesing. Excellent lunch including the best chips, possibly in the northern hemisphere. Locally brewed beer along with first class service.Nicely replenished, the remainder of the journey to York seemed effortless. It is residential and we promise... More

Close to Harrogate, the hotel is in a quiet but easily reached village location, with public footpaths giving way to pretty and extensive views over the surrounding countryside. The owners were very friendly and obliging, and the meals were excellent, including a sumptuous gut buster of a breakfast which is included in the price. Although the accommodation is partially above... More

Saturday lunch with 4 friends and what an enjoyable place to go to. Friendly welcome, comfortable seating in a cosy setting and quick service. We had 4 different meals and everyone praised the size and quality of the meal. You would certainly not leave here wanting more. However you would want to come again to sample the evening menu which... More

Arrived late on a Saturday night and even though the bar and restaurant was busy we were made to feel welcome and shown to our room. The room Mary 1 was spotless and spacious, the bathroom was large with a big bath which was a nice surprise. We went down for dinner and the food and service was excellent, the... More

I have stopped at the Queens Head on several occasions and can honestly say it is consistently the best place place I stop in travelling across the UK and Europe. If you want a traditional pub with accomodation that is spotless as well as real home cooked food and good beer look no further. Many thanks to Louise and the... More

We booked the hotel as it was in proximity of Harrogate, but were also able to visit Knaresborough, Brimham Rocks, and Ripon while there for the weekend. Food served was excellent and I did enjoy the steak pie which is pictured on advertising material. Cooked breakfast excellent. Ample parking. Room was clean and tidy and decent value. The owning couple... More

This pub is beautiful, we arrived early and went to the owners house (2 doors down) to collect our key, he was friendly and didn't mind being disturbed, he took us back to the pub and took us straight up to our room. The room: (Mary 2) was perfect, it was clean and fresh had a lovely large bed &... More
