The entrance to the hotel was grand and well decorated. That soon changed when we went to the third floor and stepped out of the lift to find the carpet had been stuck together with DUCK TAPE! The walls were stained yellow and a lovely pink floral border to complement this disgusting hotel. The room wasnt much better DO NOT... more

I took my Mum for her 79th birthday. The rooms were well decorated, clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was very good and plentiful - particularly breakfasts. Some of the hallways were a little tired but that did not affect us in any way, it was just part of the... more

Meals were very enjoyable with excellent service and well cooked food. At dinner the first course and dessert were served at table and the main course was served at the carvery / buffet table. Coffee and tea were served in the bar. Our room was clean and comfortable with a pleasant view from the back of the hotel to Harrogate... more

I stayed at The Cairn Hotel for one night after a wedding. It was handily located and very good value for Harrogate. The bedroom was clean, large and comfortable. The communal areas of the hotel are a little tired round the edges but not so much that it ruined our stay. I found the staff to be very helpful and... more

Stayed here for a friends wedding on a Friday night. Friendly, helpful staff and a really good breakfast were the highlights of the stay. This is a fabulous building but displays it's 'jaded Victorian charm' in many areas - I think the room was overpriced at £85. They are slowly upgrading the rooms. 'Regular' rooms offer tired 80's decor and... more

We stayed at the Cairn hotel this weekend as we going to a family wedding. I booked 2 club rooms, 2 doubles and a twin for myself and my family. The club rooms cost £170 for 2 night bed and breakfast, the doubles and twin £130 for the 2 nights B&B. To be honest, as it was so cheap we... more

My wife and I visited the Cairn on a four day mini-break (special offer), and on arrival at Reception we were greeted in a most courteous and friendly manner. The friendliness of the staff and excellent service prevailed throughout the duration of our stay and we found nothing at all which we could complain about, although we do appreciate that... more

Everything about the hotel was perfect. The staff were very pleasant and the food first class along with the service. The room was very clean and fresh towels provided each day. Hotel so convenient for the town centre. Would definitely come back and highly recommend it. more

The hotel feels old, requires an immediate revamp, a short walk from town up the hill. The room was large, but needs essential refurbishment. A general smell of dump was all around. more

The first thing I must point out it that my 4 out of 5 rating is based on the fact that we only paid £55 per night. Had we paid more, the rating may have been 3 out of 5. I booked this hotel via the Strathmore Hotels website, hence the bargain price. I had initially phoned the hotel direct... more
