Room not ready when arrived, room good size, nice bed and lively fresh linen but other furnishings old and worn out, bathroom ok. Breakfast and dinner in restaurant was quite good though with excellent service, good choice and better than average food. Shame about the room service though, that's poor to none existent!

We stayed here on 25th July 2015 and found our stay very enjoyable the room was very large and modern and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a good night sleep until around 6am when we were woken by work men dismantling a marquee that had been used for an event at the hotel. This a... More

Staying at this hotel on business for 6 nights was comfortable enough, but I think it is now time that this hotel needs a good makeover to bring it up to the 4 star standard of most modern hotels. Location is great and very handy for shops and restaurants within the town.

We have just spent a lovely weekend at the Majestic, a grand Victorian 4* hotel right on the edge of town, just a 5 minute leisurely stroll from the town centre. Overall the Majestic ticks all the boxes. It has all the amenities you could need with heated indoor pool and gym, terrace for enjoying a drink or a snack... More

the room felt like a suite of rooms as the bathroom and hallway were so spacious as was the room itself. original building features such as the fireplace and fittings gave it character and there was a book recounting the hotels history of accommodating royals and celebrities through the years, and the rituals and traditions that went alongside tending to... We came to this hotel after an early check out of another one!! The room was lovely and clean. The staff wasn't very pleasant especially at the bar.. I ordered a jug of water with a dash of cordial..just over £3 paid... An absolute disgrace!! But all in all a lovely hotel and I will return!

We arrived here late on a Friday night to be greeted by dozens of drunken teenagers congregated at the entrance it was there school prom shortly followed by 2 ambulances. Which was quite unsettling. this was a quick get away for our silver wedding anniversary. The girl at the desk checked us in and gave us our room key so... More

I think I am right in thinking this is a four star hotel but actually that is not deserved. The rooms are ok - large and clean but the plumbing was dodgy the shower was more like taking a walk in light rain than a downpour. The reception staff were just plain rude, unhelpful and the public areas look quite... More
