WE gave friends a voucher for afternoon tea for two. Sadly they reported that the food was very meagre and average. In comparison to The Millstones, Harrogate and Swinton Hall, Masham this was extremely poor value. Very disappointing !

Majestic building, with vast staircase and public areas. My bedroom was very dated and in need of refurbishment and the bathroom, which was modern and impressive at first glance, needed a proper cleaning of grouting and corners. Dinner was dire but breakfast was well presented and of a good standard. Tea and coffee were provided in the bedrooms but I... More

A truly magestic building and hotel. Our rooom although feleling slightly tired and in need of a lick of paint was adequate but the public rooms were a tribute o the original design of the hotel built in 1900.

We stayed here as part of a Xmas gift from the in laws was booked as a package including evening meal and a bottle of wine in room. The girl on reception was very nice helpful so that was a good start. The hotel itself is massive it would cost an arm and a leg to have it completely modernised... More

Lovely old hotel full of character. Such an experience to stay somewhere which would have been so splendid in its day and to recreate in your imagination how things would have been. Sadly now seen better days and in need of investment but important to still support our history for future generations. Public areas still grand but in need of... More

I must start with the customer service, it's was awful. No interaction from any of the staff at reception or in the restuarant. Food was okay, at the evening and at breakfast. Room was okay, clean and decent bed. But for a £103 pounds a night not worth that time of money on my experience. Next time will use holiday... More

My wife and I have just returned from a two night stay at this grand old lady of a hotel. We booked it through Travelzoo, who had an offer for two nights bed and breakfast, including evening meals, cost £300. We had a delux room which was large but quite dark and tired looking, although the large bed was very... More

My wife bought us this night away for Christmas and when I saw the photos of a big grand hotel I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival the hotel looked as it did on the net and so was the reception and inside. We checked in and went to our room and that's where it seem to change rather dramatically we... More
