Following a very pleasant 2 night stay in a premium room at this hotel last September, my wife and I made a returned visit on Monday 15th September to celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. We booked a standard room this time (big mistake) with dinner, bed breakfast through an internet offer. Following a smooth check-in we were directed to room... More

This is a hotel doing the right thing by preserving its heritage, however there were some aspects which could have been updated (the furniture in the rooms was old - I pulled out a drawer and couldn't get it back in again!) and the decor dated. Room service was slow (because the restaurant had just opened, we were told) and... More

This hotel is like a throwback to a bygone age. Magnificent common areas and decor. The room we stayed in had been recently modernised to a high standard. Service is good and its in a great location for easy access to the town.

Having got married at Shrigley Hall (part of the Hotel Collection) last year we were excited to stay at another of the group's hotels for our 1st wedding anniversary, however after reading the reviews on here we were quite nervous about what we may be greeted with, relieved to say that we could not fault anything at all about our... Stayed here for one night in August. Lovely big room nice and clean. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the hotel both of which were lovely. The location of the hotel is great. The only thing we were disappointed with was the pool area. The pool is not very big and the sauna's were in each of the... More

Stayed here and after seeing some mixed reviews about it on Tripadvisor was pleased that everything was good. Particularly liked the large public areas, the wide corridors and our room which was spacious

We booked a spa break and I was a little nervous after reading the reviews. Hotel reception was efficient and friendly. We went through to the bar and our drinks orders were taken efficiently. We went to view the rooms and despite the fact they were not the refurbished rooms they were fantastic. I would say more suites than rooms.... More

Have just returned from an overnight spa break with friends and loved this hotel. It is majestic in size and yes a little worn in places but the overall impression is still impressive. Our rooms were huge compared to modern hotels and some of us had what could be classed as a junior suite...truly grand for the price we paid!... More

We got a 1 night dinner, bed and breakfast deal at the hotel. On arrival we were able to check straight into our room, even though we were early. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a premium room (249) which was very modern, with a beautiful original feature fireplace. Bathroom was modern, and a good size. Room... More

We booked this stay on an internet deal, two nights bed and breakfast, dinner on day of arrival and afternoon tea. Luckily we checked reviews and found that the standard rooms were not renovated so we upgraded to a premier room. Now the good - The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast and afternoon tea were good ( the... More

Vince J, General Manager at The Majestic Hotel, responded to this review

Dear Roy M, Thank you for posting your review and I am glad for the "good", frustrated by the "bad" as this relates to energy saving madness on the refurbishment meant to save water but resulting in slow flows as I told the consultants. On the ugly, we are careful only to use good quality steaks and currently this is... More
