just a one night stop over but staff very friendly and efficient. Very good meal for group of eight all served on time, very attentive good choices on menu. Room was good and free wifi very useful Good breakfast as well. Look forward to staying again later in the year. I would thoroughly recommend staying in this charming period hotel... More

We stayed at the Haycock Hotel in Wansford for two nights in February 2015. We arrived on the Friday evening and left on the Sunday morning after breakfast. First impressions were good. The hotel is very old and trades heavily on its age and charm - both of which it has in spades. The room was pleasant, if a little... More

My partner and I had an overnight stay with breakfast in the morning. The room was of an adequate size but the bed was a bit hard for comfort, if it wasnt for the radiator in the room it would have been very cold due to the windows not being double glazed. There were a couple of minor DIY issues... More

Absolutely stunning hotel, rooms beautiful and immaculate but the staff could of been a whole lot better, the night porter wasn't the friendliest. Breakfast was beautiful and very hot but the staff wernt very pleasant, we had to ask for more cereal, more cooked breakfast, pots of tea, toast, not one smile on their faces apart from the chef who... To break our journey from Scotland back to East Anglia, my husband booked us in as a surprise. The first room, he wasn't happy with the bath so we asked to be moved. Unpacked In The second room, ran a bath only to find the water was stone cold. Receptionist said they hadn't imtended using the main building where we... More

Stayed for one night only with family and friends and found a warm welcome. Staff were all friendly and the food was excellent. There was a slight problem with the organisation of breakfast which, due to the large number of guests present, was slow and we were left to our own devices with no advice. All else was brilliant. The... More

We have just returned from a 2 night break at the Haycock and what a wonderful experience. Staff could not have been more helpful. When checking in we mentioned we would prefer a room in the main building, and without fuss, this request was honoured and we were even given an upgrade! We mentioned to the receptionist that the purpose... More

The Haycock was always on our list as favourite hotels to eat, abd weve also enjoyed several fantastic New Years Eve parties there, but on our recent visits its lost its atmosphere., and doesnt seem anywhere as popular, as it used to be. Dont get me wrong, when we called in the staff were great, and the food likewise, but... More

Visited today - useful meeting point for A1 travellers. Arrived for coffee and stayed on for lunch - all very civil and welcoming. Excellent food and service. Not cheap, allow £15-20 pp for a couple of coffees and lunch but then if you want cheap there are plenty of options. We enjoyed comfy sofas in front of a log fire... More

Just a weekend mini getaway but this is probably the best hotel we've ever been to. The staff are all lovely and so friendly, wonderful breakfasts and the meals we had in the restaurant were very good. It is well worth paying the extra for a "feature room", ours had a huge ensure with jacuzzi and was more of a... More
