This place once was an excellent hotel and restaurant, the place had declined greatly over the past couple of years. The food is not the best and majority microwaved, the staff are rude (on the past two occasions) and the management are not much better. Avoid where possible! Unless you like to pay for over priced food and service??

We have just returned from lunch at the Haycock Hotel. We ordered a chicken, leek and bacon pie and a leek and potato soup. The pie was OK but the vegetables looked as though they had been put through a shredder - most odd and I have never seen vegetables served like this before (see picture)! Then I took a... More

My parents & I stopped here while on a day out to the Nene Valley Railway, as we could not get into the pub across the road as they were fully booked, which was of course a shame. We entered this very dark, dingy & ugly place, the lady at reception told us to wait in the lounge, which we... More

Had a great one-night stay here on our way back from Yorkshire. Conveniently located just off the A1 in a pretty village with some nice pubs. Our room was a good size and had French windows onto the garden which was perfect for our dogs. Facilities were okay (but no fridge) and breakfast was delicious - plenty of choice and... More

We have been going to this place for many years but not recently. It used to be lovely, civilised and comfortable, with good food. After today's experience we will never go back. it seems run down, seedy and with hopeless service. The restaurant was closed because of a 'gas problem' but the alternative was dreadful. There is an excellent pub... More

Stayed here overnight for my cousin wedding .The room was lovely and had all the mod cons you need when away .In the double room we had extra pillows, iron , ironing board , TV and room service . The wedding was great and the next morning could not fault the buffet style breakfast everything you need for a good... More

We attended a wedding here on 18th of July and stayed overnight. The on suite bedroom was spacious and the on suite bathroom ticked all the boxes. The bed was very comfortable and all required amenities were readily available. The room was clean and extra towels were provided. The Hotel is set in a very picturesque area, beside the River... Set in the charming village of wansworth, the Hancock hotel oozes character and is steeped in history. Originally a coach inn, Mary queen of scots, queen Victoria and a bunch of other historical figures are al said to have stayed there. The hotel itself s a large sprawling complex consisting of beautiful Tudor style buildings and gardens. The staff are... More

Nice and old period building in a quiet village. The A road nearby wasn't at all noticeable. Fairly smallish - other guests were about but wasn't disturbed by anyone. Charming, friendly staff. Great range available at breakfast - cereals, juice, pastries, fruit etc, as well as a cooked full english. The restaurant had a decent offering, and was fairly nice,... More

I grew up in the area and have attended many events at The Haycock but can't help noticing how it's gone down in recent years. The building its-self and grounds are lovely and well located but the reception and over-all atmosphere feels more like a Holiday Inn than a country hotel, with the lounge, dining rooms, bar and restaurants all...
