My wife and I stayed here in September, it was in a nice peaceful location but not too far away from Westport Quay where some nice restaurants were. Our hosts Frances and Angela were extremely nice and Frances was very helpful recommending day trips and places to eat. Whilst you were down at breakfast your room was made up and... more

Just after reading a couple of reviews here and almost word for word I would agree with most of them. This B&B is not a B&B in the traditional sense; it is more like a military barracks run to strict military style timing. I would feel more comfortable at funeral parlour. Myself and my friend stayed in Carrabaun House last... more

Myself and my partner stayed in Carrabaun House over the bank holiday weekend. I booked it as it is advertised as 1km from Westport. This should be titled 1km from Westport town boundary, (thereby about 2.5km from town centre) on a road totally unsuitable for walking. Our directions from the net, decribed how a warm welcome awaited us. However we... more

They are very particular about breakfast here and require a firm order to be placed the night before. On oour second morning they and were knocking insistently on a neighboring guest's door when they did not appear for their appointed breakfast time, calling "Breakfast", knock knock knock, "Breakfast". When the two tardy guests did arrive, they were given the hot... more

My partner, friend and I stayed at Carrabaun House for two nights while attending a wedding in Westport. It's just outside the town, which may not suit everyone but we had a car so it was fine for us. My partner had previously informed the owner that we would be arriving sometime around midnight and this was fine. We set... more

My mother & I stayed at Carrabaun House for 2-days in late-March. We were quite impressed just coming up the driveway. It's a big, white house on top of small hill. Francis greeted us at the door and took us to room #2. Wow, that was a big room with 2-double beds that were beautifully appointed and came complete with... more

This was our third time in approx 12 year span staying at Carrabaun House with Angela & Francis. The house is located just outside the town, with a fab view of Croagh Patrick (famous pilgrimage mountain). Our room this time (#3) had a direct view if it. The property has just been extended so that now the upstairs rooms have... more

Carrabaun House in Westport is absolutely beautiful with lovely antiques and a gorgeous wide stairway to the second level. Our room was spacious, very tastefully decorated and had a large window overlooking Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. Our view of the mountain and the clouds surrounding it changed every few minutes and it was fascinating to watch. Mr. and Mrs.... more

After 14 trips to Ireland, I have a special place to stay in Westport, Co. Mayo. Carrabaun House owned by Francis and Angela Gavin is top on my list of favorite places. The view from the front of the house is magnificent of St. Patrick's Mountain. Their home had major renovations done this past year and it is just beautiful.... more
