Just spent two nights at the Harlequin. Desk staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered a good choice to suit all tastes but some of the items were of a poor standard. I reckon they cook all the rashers at around 7 AM and then keep them hot with the result that they are dry and leathery. Pudding was the... More

I spent a weekend in this hotel recently. I will say it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience for the most part. I will as usual make the good points, of which there were many, first. This hotel is very conveniently located, within a short walk to the town centre. It share a building with the Royal theatre, and has... More

It would never occur to me an air conditioned hotel would not have AC in their best rooms. In September we checked in and when we entered the room it was unbearably hot and I asked that the AC be turned on. Reply was there isn't any in these rooms. It was a room with lots of windows (didn't open)... More

The Harlequin hotel is ideally situated for shopping ,restaurants and Royal Theatre (when it bothers to open) and there are many advantages in staying there. It is spotlessly clean ,has marvellous car parking facilities and the breakfasts are substantial. So why am I giving three stars to a four star hotel? On the whole it lacks atmosphere and warmth and... More

This is a very nice and welcoming hotel. It is bright, modern, visually appealing and spotlessly clean. Additionally the meals served in the restaurant are of the highest standard. My wife and I stayed in one of the Courtyard rooms and it was spacious, comfortable and exceptionally quiet. All in all it was a very tranquil and relaxing experience. The... More

This has the reputation of being one of the best hotels in Mayo. The problem with so many is that they seem to have suffered as a consequence of the recession - cost cutting has resulted in poor maintenance, reluctance to keep the rooms properly heated and inadequate staff. Not so, it appeared, in the case of The Harlequin where... More

This was a very nice hotel. Clean and up to date. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The restaurant had good food but nothing I would call exceptional. I was disappointed when I ordered a salad and was given a substitute without previous notice that what I ordered was no longer available. Breakfast was good for buffet. Excellent location for... The restaurant food was the highlight here. Great caesar salad with chicken and fantastic fresh cod main course, the desert of chocolate was also extremely tasty.Service was good with attentive and prompt service. Breakfast was Ok nothing special here with the usual servery of fried food and then cereals and fruit on the side......could have been spiced up a bit with... More

Loved our recent 2 night stay in Harlequin Hotel - gorgeous rooms and excellent location. Excellent breakfast, but the dinner menu was a little disappointing . Staff very friendly and efficient and I would highly recommend this for a short break in the west
