We stayed at the Garden Gates for one night in May 2009. We were in the Lilac Room which had a lovely big, comfortable bed and a scenic view of the countryside out of the window. The whole of the house is extremely clean. There are two horses at the property and two very friendly dogs. Martina told us about... more

A very warm welcome and a house full of character and loads of good parking for the bike :-) We were shown to a lovely spacious room done out very tastefully with an enormous bed (more of which later). There was loads of wardrobe space for our bike gear and and a comfy guest lounge where we waited for the... more

I loved this lovely B&B, fabulous host (Martina and Brendan) and lovely dogs. The room that I stayed is very nice, cozy, and very clean. I had a very nice view from my room. There is a wide range of breakfast selection, and it is very tasty as well. more

Great setting and base for exploring Mayo. The rooms we had were large, very clean, and had everything we needed. We were made very welcome by Martina and Brendan and our son loved meeting the horses in the back field. The breakfasts were superb, which offered a great choice and was well cooked with good quality food. I'll hopefully be... more

Our room had two twin beds and big bathroom which was completely tiled and easily handicapped accessible. Martina is very friendly and had several restaurant recommendations, including detailed directions. The house is off the main road in a farm area, but it’s well signposted. There is also a nice common room for relaxing. The breakfast was quite tasty. I definitely... more

Because it was a weekend and we wanted to avoid the crowds based on feedback about it being a big wedding weekend, so we choose a location between Westport and Castlebar and it was a great decision. The hosts are warm and helpful and their home is great. Our room overlooked their horses which were fun to watch. The food... more

We spent six nights with Martina and Brendan in their lovely purpose-built B&B. Ours was a large family room with a roomy shower stall and bathroom, great water pressure, and very comfortable beds. Martina and Brendan were very helpful with information about the area, and some good advice for me in tracking ancestors. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. We loved... more

This B&B is excellent I wished we could have spent a week in this house. The bedroom and the bath were both very large and super clean with many extras like a basket full of towels so one could chose . The breakfast was great especially Brendan's French Toast Some of the best I have ever eaten. I would go... more

Recently spent 11 days touring Ireland and stayed in 8 different B & B's. The Garden Gates was one of the best that we stayed at. The house is lovely and when we arrrived Martina opened the door to greet us by name before we even knocked! The home was clean, spacious and very quiet. I would highly recommend this... more

We read all the complementary reviews and chose the Garden Gates thinking it must be quite nice, but couldn't possibly be so entirely wonderful. But it is. The property is new, spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. However that's really secondary to the warmth and friendly atmosphere of this B&B. Martina and Brendan have a gift for making others at home.... more
