We arrived in Ireland via Dublin airport around noon on a Friday morning. After picking up our rental car we headed off to Drogheda and the Scholars Inn. What a magnificent place. Sixteen rooms, a great lounge/pub and a very fine dining room with the ceilings decorated with scenes from the Battle of the Boyne. After a walk around Drogheda... More

The 30 minute drive on the opposide ride of the road was perfect after our 9 hour flight from San Francisco....Great way to start our holiday, with my son and his friend from university, in Ireland. Close to the Dublin airport. Beautiful quaint town with the history and ambience of a smaller Irish town. The Scholar's Townhouse staff was warm... More

Its an interesting building with a definite "wow" factor. The staff were very willing to please. Our room was tiny, with the most uncomfortable bed I've slept in for years. Hard mattress, too-thick hard foam pillows and awkwardly made up sheet + blanket combo made it a pleasure to leave.

Scholars was absolutely brilliant! The service and the hospitality was fantastic. This was our 3rd time at the hotel and it hasn't disappointed! The staff are very friendly and professional and the food was superb as usual and the outside garden was very well looked after by the lovely gardeners! we will definitely be back soon.

Top class to service and food. Difficult to find these 'Hidden Gems' around. Unfortunately I was only in for a late lunch. Service impeccable and would highly recommend. Relaxed ambiance. Attention to detail and follow up service of excellent standard. If the weather was better, it would have been ideal to sit outside as it was exceptionally enticing. Well worth... More

Very pleased that we found this lovely hotel as a base for our trip of Newgrange. As other reviewers have noted the rooms are a little small, but this is more than compensated for by the rest of the hotel; the quite amazing staff whose friendliness and professionalism were evident throughout; and the wonderful food (which was also very good... This lovely hotel may not be to everyone's taste - lots of wood, and paintings, and antiques. But it was extremely welcoming and comfortable, well-situated for the many nearby historic sites in the Boyne Valley - and the staff are friendly and professional. Perhaps our most enjoyable stay during all of our visits to Ireland! A bit of a challenge... More

Stayed for a family occasion over the long weekend, staff were some of the friendliest I've ever met, food was brilliant, as was the service. Rooms are a bit small but really nice and extremely clean. Couldn't say a bad thing about the place.

Stayed here recently to celebrate our grandparents 60th wedding anniversary . Couldn't fault anything of the weekend , even the small rod didn't dampen the spirits . Food was delicious , the hotel itself was beautiful and spotless , the staff were unbelievably helpful nothing was too much !! We will certainly be back .
