We stayed one night as it was close to Newgrange and it was a fantastic choice. Although the room was basic, the service and food more than made up for it. We were greeted by very friendly staff and it was one of the simplest check in procedures ever. We dined in the main restaurant and the food was outstanding... More

Lovely old style hotel. Staff were particulary friendly and attentive. Room was small but adequate. Had dinner in the bar - was very busy for a week night. The steak was great and the amuse bouche was gorgeous - pork belly and a scallop. Breakfast was very good too. Will be back.

We enjoyed a two-night stay at Scholars Townhouse recently and I really cannot praise it highly enough. Granted the rooms are compact rather than spacious but they are scrupulously clean and perfectly practical with tea-making facilities, large power showers and an abundance of piping hot water. The food was delicious and the staff are simply first class in their courtesy,... More

I recently visited scholars restaurant with my family and although this isn't the first time I have been, it will be a while before in back! The staff and atmosphere are all perfect, it was the food that let it down. 4 out of the 5 were disappointed with the either the main or starter (or both). I had a... More

We were in Drogheda to visit the nearby neolithic sites of Newgrange and Nouth. Scholar's was like staying at an Irish country estate (on a smaller scale) but with the same ambiance elegance, and decor. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, answering our questions, and providing helpful advice. While the room we stayed in had "Presidential Suite" on the... More

Wanted to visit a Bridgestone awarded cafe-deli while in the town on a day trip. They advised me to go to this place as they were closing at 5pm when I arrived. I expected decent food & drinks after being told this is a good place by another establishment in the town. It isn't that good at all, although the... More

We selected this hotel based on a recommendation. It was a family celebration so we had a mixed group of young and old. Once you entered the gates the WOW factor hits you. Lets be straight, it’s a small hotel with no huge lobby so don’t expect it. What is does have is a magnificent façade, old world ambiance and... More

This is a family owned and run hotel set in an old monastic style house that was home to a teaching order attached to the school next door. The house was gutted and rebuilt to look like it was never touched at all and has a lovely warm welcoming feel to it.The rooms are small but well apportioned and spotless... More

If you like to sit back, and relax, with fine food and wine, well this is the place! I have eaten in the restaurant, and the bar, and both menus are available in the bar...but if u eat in the bar, the staff put a crisp white table cloth on your table...its the small touches that make this place special,... We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very small, but everything was built in and there was room for everything. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We were in Drogheda on a Monday night and since most restaurants were closed, we chose to eat in the pub. We... More
