Spent two night s here and was very impressed. One negative comment; the room was TINY - the hotel has retained a lot of its original design so this is perhaps understandable but you should be aware of it. Other than that, the room was fine, bathroom was recently renovated by the looks of it. Otherwise, everything was great. All... more

Great hotel and amazing food. The dining room is something to die for. I was visiting for a family wedding and the hotel provided us with being close to our family but also gave us the privacy and romantic weekend away together that we needed. Not the biggest room but everything you need and incredibly pretty and comfortable. The bar... more

Ths hotel is excellently located very close to Drogheda's historic inner town but with easy access out to the M1 motorway, making it an excellent alternative to overpriced Dublin hotels for those seeking a location close to the ferries. As a converted schoolteachers' house, it suffers the disadvantage that rooms are quite small and cramped, though adequate for an overnight... more

We returned yesterday after 5 nights at this gem of a hotel. It was spotless and refurbished and decorated to a high standard. The food was delicious and service consistently high. It's hard to believe this is just a 3 star although our room, being small, may be a reason. The whole ambience made our stay relaxing and comfortable and... more

This is a former Christian Brothers residence (where the teaching Brothers etc lived - school is adj) and if it was a smart as this they had an easy time! We arrived a little later than planned but it was no problem; check in easy - although a quick instruction on how the lights worked (you put room keycard in... more

Drogheda was the place of my first two nights' stay in Ireland. The drive from Dublin airport was a breeze and, having seen how narrow the streets were and how busy the traffic was in Drogheda, I was glad to find the hotel has a good-sized carpark! The welcome at reception, and in the dining room when I requested a... more

This is a perfect example why I rely on this site for hotel recommendations. I couldn't find any mention of Scholar's (as the locals call it) in the traditional guidebooks, but booked a room for two nights based on the TripAdvisor reviews, which proved to be very accurate. This is a traditional and more elegant option for those who aren't... more

As soon as we arrived I was impressed straight away. The building itself is beautiful and the surroundings are fantastic and it is close to town centre too which was great. I cant compliment this place enough, the decor inside is fabulous. We went to our room and it was very nice, clean and comfortable. We also booked into the... more
