Compared to Clochard B&B in Galway-Pinecrest B&B wins my vote! We arrived in Galway at the bus station & called the owner, Liam to let him know that we arrived safely. He insisted that his son pick us up rather than having us walk. If you're American, you'd probably think that was a little sketchy. Not in Ireland! His son... More

We loved Pinecrest. We arrived after a long day of travel from London to Dublin and finally to Kilkenny. Helen greeted us with a smile and some lovely afternoon tea. We felt like we were at home! The only unfortunate part was that we were staying just one night. We wished we were staying longer. The rooms were quiet, spacious,... More

Hi Melissa, thank you for your review of Pinecrest which is fine up to the point where you say there was no hot water. Well at Pinecrest we have both electric imersion heaters and dual gas burners both with enough capacity to supply more than enough hot water for Pinecrest on their own. I am loath to say that this... Stayed here in early June 2014. The facilities were good, the room spacious and clean. The B&B is just slightly out of downtown but a 5-10 minute walk into the city center. Our host, Liam, was very welcoming and friendly. We stayed 2 nights and he directed us each night to pubs that had the best irish music. Most pubs... More

We had a pleasant stay on my birthday. Host was lovely and we had two rooms. Parents got a large bedroom with a larger bed upstairs and we had a large double bed with a second single bed on the ground floor. Beds were comfortable. Host made tea for us and chatted while we ate birthday cake that we brought... More

Helen and Liam were gracious hosts and we hope to return to Kilkenny soon. Accomodations were clean, comfy and walking distance to town. The breakfast was delicious (my husband dreams of the black pudding) and the hospitality was top-notch.

Helen and Liam were very welcoming from the second we arrived until leaving. The house was very cozy and comfortable. Helen helped us pick spots to go in the evening and provided us with a map while Liam was very fun to talk to and his knowledge of the area and Ireland is expansive. Couldn't have picked a better place... More

I booked my room here well in advance and I was very happy with the results. The room my son and I were given was very cozy. It was very clean with lovely linens on the beds. Helen was an excellent hostess and actually disappointed we were not able to stay for breakfast the next morning because I had to... More

I booked 3 rooms at Pinecrest for our family of 6, 4.5 months prior to our trip. 1 week before departure, I received an email from Helen telling me that due to family commitments she had to cancel our room. That was it! She did not offer to help us find a new location and simply left me to quickly... More

You can read more in the next paragraph, but to summarize, if you like B&Bs at all, you should be very happy at Pinecrest! You couldn't stay with nicer people, and for a budget-friendly place, I can't imagine being more pleased and pampered. Rick Steves recommended Pinecrest and a few hotels in town. I like B&Bs and Pinecrest was a... More
