I booked two rooms at 35€/person but was finally charged 55€/person! The B&B owner did not provide any reason fot this change, arguing that 55€ is the standard price during weekends. However, in their webpage the price clearly depends on whether the rooms are "On suite" (30-45€) or "De Luxe" (40-50€). To avoid being cheated this way, be alert if... more
I have stayed here many times and have no intention of stopping. Kilkenny is one of my favorite places to stay and the laurels makes it even better. Myself and my other half take birthday trips down here and always stay at the laurels. Great rooms, huge beds, lovely baths - no complaints whatsoever - Highly recomend it more
Hosts nice, friendly and helpful but I felt rather mislead by the website info/pics. Room comfy and clean but rather old fashioned, with tiny ensuite. Shower however, was amazingly good for being in such a small space! I was disappointed not to have a whirlpool bath or huge bed as shown on website but to be fair I didn't ask... more
The only good parts were the whirlpool bath and the comfy bed. Otherwise all very average - cheapo food in the breakfast, cheap shiny pine furniture. Not what I expected from the website at all, nothing exceptional in any way except the nice bath. more
Clean, familiar but proffesional at the same time. On of the best B&B I've been in Ireland. I woudl recommend you to stay. more
The Laurels is a great little B&B situated no more than a 10 minute walk away from the town centre of Kilkenny. We stayed here for 3 nights and booked one the 'superior' rooms on offer. We were not disappointed. It was complete with TV, hairdryer, tea making facilities and the biggest bed I have ever seen! Our bathroom was... more
Having driven to Kilkenny from Dublin after a long flight, checking into The Laurels (w/o a prior booking) late in the evening we found the hosts to be very welcoming. We found this to be a great place to stay, extremely friendly hosts and excellent service... Great rates and very comfortable rooms, a definite recommendation on your visit to Kilkenny! more
I never received confirmation for my booking even though I emailed a few times so when we arrived we didn't have a reservation....luckily, there was a room available! The room was okay - it was comfortable and clean but very small and the sink was outside of the bathroom which was tiny. Betty was very friendly, although when we discovered... more
A two hour drive from Dublin, Kilkenny is a nice place to visit. The Laurels B&B was a perfect first stop. Greeted by Betty McHenry we were introduced to our nice clean rooms. The bathrooms were very clean and that is must for me. I had a very peaceful sleep. Brian Mc Henry cooked a full Irish Breakfast in the... more
