We were looking for overnight accommodation in Kilkenny at the last minute and as the arts festival was on, we were told by the tourist office there was nothing to be found in the city that saturday night. I did a google search and Alton B&B came up first. I phoned the very pleasant owner, Shay McEvoy and was delighted... More

My boyfriend and I were looking for a central location to stay in Kilkenny and stumbled across this B&B. By first appearances it seemed okay (despite the noisy dog that lives in the house?!?) but after a night's stay at the place both of us contracted an extremely bad case of bed bugs!! we were also kept awake all night... I only went to this B abd B because it looked so central. We only booked for one night and when I saw the room I was relieved it was only one night - I'm sure the cells in Mountjoy are more welcoming. We ended up staying at a party house in the countryside that night and returned a couple... More

My friends and i booked here for my "stag" weekend, what a shock it was the coldest, dampest, place ive ever been in.The rooms were flithy, stank of vomit and cigarette smoke, our friends room was a kithchen with beds pushed in . We found out that this establishment is also a hostel for homeless people with mental health problems.... More

I would just like to say that in the last two days i had a very nasty incident with the landlady of this bed and breakfast. This B&B is as terrible as all the reviews have said. Stay away. She is the rudest person i have ever met. I work in the hospitality industry and i have met some un... More

i wish we'd read up the reviews before going to this little piece of hell in dean street kilkenny...!!!! i would advise any1 not to go there that is unless of course you like a tiny old fashioned room, or maybe sleeping in a kitchen, being overcharged and not to mention the dog, oh yes the dog resides in the... Im being very generous in giving this B&B one star. I would give it a minus rating if i could. The previous reviews are spot on. This is a very dodgy set up.. We booked two rooms, one double and one twin. On arrival our reservation requests were not adhered to. We were placed in an outside annex which contained... More

Reading what happened above is exactly as what happened me..... reserved room over the phone.... she needed a bank draft as they did not deal with credit cards. Posted this on Monday - Thursday morning (BH weekend) get call to say draft has just arrived and the room was given away ...... but there was a larger family room available... More

Hi, It breaks my heart to read the two bad reviews on Kilkenny's B&Bs. In 1968 as a twenty year old I had the time of my life at their Beer Festival. They had invited an Oompah German Band and had a Bier Garten too. I still remember the Beer Festival Chairman who let us stay at his sisters' and... More

Hi, I cant believe this happened to someone else too. My friend had booked a room at Kilkenny B&B Dean Street and the lady also said to send a postal order. It was a bit strange initially as she said that the room used to be a kitchen and that there was a cooker and fridge in it. we didnt... More
