My only regret was that we only stayed 1 night at this location. I chose this place after looking at a few others and I thought it'd be nice to stay in a manor instead of a b&b in the city center. The hostess, Margaret, was very helpful with different places to see and eat in Kilkenny. Home: -it's a... more

Stayed 2 nights at Hillgrove with Margaret and Tony. The place is conveniently located, just a short drive to the "heart" of Kilkenny. Our rooms were nice with enough room, light, and comfort. Would've liked a couple of more stations on the television, and there's no wi-fi. Nothing major to complain about outside of the TV and internet. more

The location is beautyful. The room are very clean, and the bed comfortible. The house itself is nicely decorated in old country house stile. Margaret was a fantastic hosts. The breafast was delicious. Even if it is located 2 km far to the town, I will definitely recommend going forward and hopefully revisit. more

A beautiful B&B surrounded by the stunning countryside. The host and hostess were very kind and welcoming and escepically helpful with giving directions on how to get to different attractions and sights. The breafast was delicious in a cozy, cutely decorated dinning room. It is an older home and the bathroom wasn't the nicest (older plumbing, etc.). However everything was... more

My husband and I truly enjoyed Hillgrove. Margaret and Tony (and Stewie) were wonderful hosts. Margaret is very knowledgable of the area, best ways to get to points of interest and is a wonderful cook!. Thanks Margaret and Tony more

Hillgrove B&B was a welcome surprise following a difficult arrival to Ireland. Tornados in the US changed our flight schedule several times prior to arrival in Dublin. However, when I arrived at Hillgrove, I knew that my vacation was beginning. The hosts were very pleasant and yet not intrusive. The room was cozy and was perfect in size. The real... more

We stayed here for a night on the way back to Dublin. Unlike some other B&Bs which are very new, this is an older house that feels more like a manor house. The breakfast was great with several choices on the menu. It may be a mile from the town but on the same road that will take you to... more

It was our first trip to Ireland - a young couple, baby and two 70 year old parents. A tough crowd to please. This was our first B+B, as it would simply be too easy to book a hotel! So, we booked based on tripadvisor - the entire trip booked as so. B+Bs in Ireland are the way to go,... more

My daughter and I stayed here in May 2007. Margaret and Tony were fantastic hosts in a lovely settling. This place was recommended by a friend who had stayed there in 2006. Hillgrove is a mile or two outside city centre but it's an easy drive. This is a lovely setting, with lots of excellent choices for breakfast. The living... more
